My 3 year old daughter does not seem to like me when dad is about

I work part time and try to spend a lot of time with my daughter but as soon as my partner, my daughters dad is around I just don't exist. She will not look at me, talk to me do anything I request and if I try too hard to engage she just gets angry and clings to her dad. If the 3 of us are out together I just feel like a spare part, I might as well not be there. This has ruined out family days out . I just go out on my own with her or my partner does. It feels a waste of time to all go out and just not get on. I've tried to talk to her and ask if there is anything wrong but she says she just wants daddy. I feel so sad a lot of the time, these should be fun family times. Even though I love my daughter lots I'm now looking for anything to do that puts me in a different place to her. Does anyone have any advise?

My 15month old is the same. I stay at home with him and the minute his dad comes in, that's it! You can see it on ds's face, he'll look at me like "later, loser". It was heart breaking at first but it's only because he sees more of me than his dad so can take me for granted knowing I'm always there.
We have number 2 on the way so at the moment I'm enjoying taking a back seat on weekends and trips out.
Don't let it get to you, I'm sure it's perfectly normal

It is normal, ds can be like this. It was worse when he was younger. If your dh works full time she doesn't get to spend as much time with him as she would probably like to so wants to monopolise him when she is with him.

Is she an only child? I ask because I find that ds tends to try to bicker with me when we are all together and I guess if he had a sibling he would bicker with them instead of me.

If she is misbehaving you both need to be firm with her and let her know that the three of you on a family outing and that you all want to enjoy the day. Don't take it to heart, she doesn't love her daddy any more than she loves you!
