.....even though she has said she doesn't want to invite anyone apart from one friend?

Not sure this is the right place to post and sorry if it seems a dumb question but DD1 is in YR R and is starting to settle in school after a few wks of tears. She has a good bond with one little girl who she didn't know until she started at this school as she didn't know anyone when she started.

We have had her back to ours for a playdate. She has mentioned a couple of other girls that she plays with and I asked her if she wanted to invite either of these 2 to play and she said no. Should I invite one of them anyway so she can get to know them a bit better or just leave. She is quite shy and I want to help her make friends and not just have 1 friend in school. It would also help me get to know a few more mums apart from jutst saying hi at the school gate.

I would only invite 1 person and it would be one of girls she has mentioned not just someone she has never played with.

Maybe it depends on your DD. With mine it is generally a bit of a nightmare if we have someone back that she hasn't wanted to invite (usually in our case the result of me feeling that I have to reciprocate as DD has been to friend's house).
What I have done sometimes is to arrange to take friend to the playground after school with DD for half an hour or so - then there is some kind of focus for what they are doing (and at the worst they can just both play on the swings on their own!).
