even if it rains all day. I need ideas folks to entertain a 27 month old ds who doesn't like drawing or painting too much. I thought we could ice some cakes, make a den, dance and sing. What else ? Am off to bed now but am hoping to find a huge list in the morning!!!

Dont know where you are based but how about the museum...Science and industry ones are usually good and both the ones in manchester and london have fun interactive bits for small kids...whats more they're normally free, yay!
Went to the Manchester one today with plans of going to interactive bits...instead ds (28months) and I spent the whole afternoon looking at engines! He was fascinated. Even found a model railway - with guess who...THOMAS!
If in, or near, York the national railway museum is great for Thomas fans...just be ready for 'Mama thomas, more thomas, more thomas' at every blue train! You'll long for the DVD! Oh and beware, its free, but there is a very tempting thomas shop...cost us a train set LOL
I hated trains before I had my son!

Well if it rains, I suggest getting your wellies on and jumping in puddles and getting really wet! There are times when it matters if you're wet and there are times when it is so OK to get as wet as possible, and this is it!

Have dry clothes ready for when you come back and warm drinks ready to be made and a DVD and a snuggle. Possibly something he likes, like Thomas or something!

go on a short train ride somewhere, then have a hot chocolate in a cafe (like a "grown up"- found my DS especially liked sitting on impractical high bar stool type chairs in cafes), then come back and re-enact your trip with toys- or make a train from playdoh etc.

Otherwise put on old clothes and find as many puddles to jump in as possible then warm up with a midday special bath once home. Or try to find worms as they come up near soil surface in rain- my DS loves worms!

Baking is always a good idea too.

thanks for all your ideas! Been up with ds since 6.30am and no telly so far. Been playing with his Thomas engines and read a few stories. Some good ideas there. Am off to dig out the wellies and have a fun day splashing.
