Ok so.... It's half term, it's wet and "we're bored, there's nothing to do"

What free /fun activities do you do at home from sorting the socks, to making a treasure hunt.

I love:

  1. Water play, filling a washing up bowl full of soapy water/ice cubes/coloured water and giving children plastic ducks, or plastic cups/jugs etc.

  1. Put a large paper party tablecloth on the table and let them draw on it/colour it in

  1. Make edible necklaces using string, and cheerio's, dried fruit, cooked pasta etc

  1. Playdough

  1. Gloop - cornflour mixed with water and food colouring.

So what are yours?

I don't really organise anything tbh - my kids just seem to sort of play...they might get the colouring stuff out or they get out their toys. They don't really need much input from me or maybe I am just lazy! I am busy catching up with chores today, putting up new curtains and fixing a few things around the house. DD1 is playing with her Barbies and DD has got all her babies up and has lined them up on the sofa - I am having fun listening to the running commentary from both of them.

Take cushions off sofa and do belly flops on to them.
Build a mountain of cushions and beanbags and do superhero type rescue scenarios.
Action rhyme cd dancing.
Hide and seek.

I pretty much ignore my kids during the holidays, and ban the TV etc.

It makes them creative.

My answer to DD being bored is to get her meeting up with a friend - either our house, therii house or meeting with parents at somewhere like soft play or local museum/gallery.

DD had her friend round for sleep over last night and all morning/lunch today. Didn't see the pair of them at all bar when they were hungry.

DD has playdates elsewhere tomorrow and Thursday, and then has 3 friends coming to play and have lunch on Friday. that is us sorted
