Birthday list for 1 year old

DD is still 11 months, but her birthday isn't far off and people are already asking what she wants!!
At Christmas, I told people to just buy whatever they thought appropriate, but ended up with lots of plastic toys, so I'm thinking of compiling a 'wish list' but I have no wishes, as yet.

Does anyone want to make some suggestions ?

for her 1st birthday my dd had,

little people plane and zoo
soft bodied doll, with change of clothes, bottle, bowl, fork and spoon and buggy.
mega blocks bus
ride on/push along truck
books - sturdy, baby proof ones
bath toys
aquadraw
toy phone
and loads of other stuff

She still plays with (7 months on)
the little people stuff - we expanded it for xmas and she spends hours with it!
the doll and buggy (was £10 from mothercare - ideal size for 1 year old) she'll spend ages taking the clothes off and getting me to put them back on!
the toy phone
books - particularly ones with photos rather than pictures in IYSWIM.

Hope you have a great time!

When ds3 was 1 he got a wheely bug - still plays with it now at 3.5 as do his 2 older brothers. Am considering getting him a bigger one for his 4th b'day later in the year.

My dd is also going to be one soon - and I have already compiled my wish list for her - but family did ask!

So far I know that she has been bought:

  • a swing that goes from baby to toddler
  • a [[

She has also asked for:
  • a big beanbag
  • a cheap portable cd player and nursery rhyme cd's
  • a pop up fairy tent (about £15 from Tesco)
  • a sand pit (argos)
  • lift the flap books

My Mum got DS1 Monkey Music classes for his 1st birthday for a term and we have also had swimming lessons in the past too.

Wow! what a list.
Bit embarrassing that dd already has most things mentioned though , and grandparents have already said they want to buy her a wheelybug, plus money (which I think is a bit excessive really).

Wanted to compile a list of inexpensive gifts that others could buy her. Think we're going to ask for a ball, and compile a list of books.

DH and I are going to get her a helium balloon in a big cardboard box.

Music and swimming classes would be a good idea, but we get sing and sign classes and swimming lessons for free in our borough anyway.

a little cart/wagon/trolley to push around
a sun hat for summer
a blow up paddling pool
good quality wax crayons (not plastic ones - the colours are not nearly as good)
books

if she already got lots for chrissy, I'd ask for things for when shes a bit older (think 18 months) - tea set, drum, xylophone, a plastic tea set, wooden play food (gorgeous, gorgeous stuff here)
cars and trucks

janeite - where did you get your toy theatre from?

No idea sorry - it was a present from my parents and it was handmade in a little place up north somewhere I think. But if anybody can recommend a place that does old fashioned wooden toys, they'd probably do one.

Otherwise it might be worth looking in Tridias or Letterbox.
