I had the single most fun time in years last night with my (preschool) DC and I don't know how to replicate it.

We were pretending their room was a big swamp and we were rescued in a boat (DS's bed). Then tried to step out and explore. Gah, hard to explain but we had so much fun.

I will miss this when they are teens.

It's great when you have such a fun time with kids! I spent about half an hour with ds (13mths) this afternoon, both of us laughing uncontrollably and making silly faces. We were sneaking up on dh who was napping on the sofa, and he thought it was so funny he couldn't stop laughing. We would both calm down and then look at each other and crack up again!

Made perfect sense to me.

My ds is not yet 2, so i have this to look forward to, but the imaginative play has begun! We were making pretend sandcastles on the kitchen floor today. It was fun!

Bu tit was better than the beach - coffee on tap and no sand to clean out of everything.

i usually hate this kind of thing, dont really try it enough. anyway, gave dd a blanket and we made a den between footstool and sofa and had a bag of hoola hoops, it was so snug i could have stayed there forever, she wouldnt.

we spent 3hr on the beach last summer with ds (6 and 10) building an island from sand, which we had to protect from the ravages of the approaching tide. it was so much fun it was the best time we had had for ages

hifi they won't believe it unless you make them believe it, just setting it up and chucking in a bag of crisps is no good.
They are smarter than we give them credit for.

I like dressing up DDs dolls (good for broodiness).

I LOVE pretend play. Dd is just getting into it - and I have to restrain myself so that I don't take over the game.

I love to watch/listen to my two playing together. Their imaginations are fabulous! I'm not so keen on joining in - I'm afraid I am too prosaic However I do have to ban them from all other activities (esp the TV, computer, games etc) before they do it, and then they go through that "I'm bored" moment before settling down to a few hours of intense imaginative play.
