When and why did you/do you give a toddler a pillow? My 21 month old still sleeps in his cot without one - and sleeps for 12 hours.

I have just moved my son to a duvet and pillow from a sleeping bag, and he is nearly 16 months. I saw him a few times asleep with his head on a teddy and thought it was probably time, and he was growing out of his 6-18 month sleeping bags. He is just as happy with the new situation

DS is 16 months and has his feeding pillow in the cot with him for last 2 or 3 months - mostly cos he likes to cuddle it, not to put his head on, though he does sometimes. He sleeps 12/13 hours.

my 3 year old doesn't like pillows, has one on her bed, but is thrown on floor every night when she goes to sleep!
I don't use pillows either

Thanks - I guess there are no 'rules' to follow here, just instinct.

ds1 is 9 and has never taken to his pillows, just end up on the floor where as ds2 (20 months) loves his pillow, its my old one so is really flat now but he cuddles up and practically sleeps just on the pillow.

so what age do you put them in their own bed?? ds2 cant seem to settle properly in the cot at the moment and when he stretches out hes bumping his arms on the cot sides and waking him self up,, time for a bed?? (with those bed sides that attach some how?
