Expecting #2 in July and just wanted to hear of other's experiences?

PND with #1 was fairly severe but lifted after about 9 months with help of meds (hence #2) .

I cant specifically answer your question but I didn't have it with #1 and did with #2 suggesting that it does not follow that you are always going to have it with each pg.

I had it with my first but not my second but that was maybe because my expectations were not so high this time round so I didnt feel such a failure when things didnt go to plan.

I had it with all 3 of mine and AND with the third. Still on meds now and will be until he goes to school I expect. Too scary when I came off them.

i had it mildly with ds1, terribly with ds2 and am now 33weeks pg with 3rd and think it is happening again.

in some people it can be hormonal related; so i can follow you around iyswim.

Two of my toddler group had PND after first birth but not after second.

I saw something the other day that said that PND was more common with boys. Both friends started with boys and then went on to have girls. Neither are having a third so I won't be able to test the theory on them further...!

I didn't have it with 1st, had it badly with 2nd but not at all with 3rd.

(btw 1st and 2nd both boys , 3rd was DD so not sure how that sits with the boys theory)

I had it with my one and only dd who is now 21mnths and I also had pre-eclampsia so she was born 6 weeks early by c-section and she had to spend 3 weeks in SCBU; the whole experience has more or less made me decide that I won't be having anymore, as the fear of some or all of these experiences happening again is too great.

I don't think I could hack it a second time, i'm of the mind that one is better than none.

My mum had it with her first for approx. 9 months (female baby). Next three male babies, no probs with PND.

Quite bad with DS1, not at all with DS2.
I think a lot of my PND first time round was to do with the massive shock to the system and change of lifestyle (giving up work etc). Plus totally unrealistic expectations and no idea about babies. Although DS2 has been a more demanding baby in many ways, it has seemed like a (relative) breeze without PND!
