reflux? colic? something else?

My DS 16 weeks seems to suffer pain in the evenings after feeds as though he has tummy cramps. I started to give him infacol which sometimes seemed to help although it made him bring up a lot of his milk. The Dr then thought it was reflux and gave him gaviscon. I went away at the weekend and forgot both and he was totally fine! Then tonight he had another spell of pain lasting about an hour.

I am really confused as to what is causing this. Can reflux come and go like that? Or is it something else?

It sounds like colic to me in which case its a question of waiting it out. The only thing that would calm my DS down was a spell in front of the cooker with the extractor fan on - the white noise worked a treat! As he became older he began to cry more and more during the day until it seemed all I was doing was trying to stop him. At 3 months I found out this was reflux and he started medication. He was a different baby overnight, a lovely happy boy. If it's reflux it wont be just at night which makes me think its colic. hang on in there, this should improve by week 12.
