which washing powder

My 10 week old son seems to be developing a rash which I think is due to the type of washing powder/softener I am using.

What type of washing powder have you found works best for sensitive skin.

At the moment I am using ariel.

I had to ditch my Asda non-bio and sensitive fabric softener! Am now on Surcare but it costs a fortune and doesn't smell as nice

at 10 weeks my dd got very flaky skin and looked a bit spotty - it went away on its own. It was only later when she developed excema like rashes (about month 4) that I made the change.

Started off using Fairy (and no softener). We had no problems, but we've now changed to soapnuts.

The problem is I have very senstive skin and can only use ariel. Looks like I am going to have to split our washing up.

Thanks for your advice.

would using wash balls help? They're not very good if things are stained IMO but for general use they are great.

also, and at the risk of getting flamed, i have relative who is a chemist working for a detergents manufacturer and he is adamant that their testing shows it is the fragrances in washing powder that cause skin reactions not the enzymes in the biological stuff.

There is one recommended by a famous parenting guru that cannot be named here. I used that for the first month of live of DS, is special for new babies: Filetti.
Here you can ask for a free sample.

I also used the ecoballs and thought they were great. Maybe you could alternate Filetti and ecoballs to make sure that stains go away.
