My 7yr dd1 has hurt her foot and wants to stay home (she's just started a new school) - what would you do?

She bruised her foot last week whilst doing jumps into a swimming pool. It cleared up fast but came back Sunday night. I took her to A&E on Monday evening to double check it was nothing more serious and its not.

She's also just started junior school (last Wednesday) and knows only a couple of other children there. Normally she's a very social child but the issue with her foot is meaning that she can't run around with the other children and play with them and is feeling left out and lonely. Each time she tries to join in she hurts her foot again so the problem is getting compounded. For the first time ever she told me this morning that she had tummy ache (she's never ever said that before). I really don't know what to do for the best. Should I keep her off? If so she's not going to have the chance to bond. But going in is also obviously causing problems. Any ideas?

I would have a word with her teacher and explain the running around/poor foot situation AND it's knock-on effect and ask if perhaps there are quieter children who sit and play with toys that your DD could join in with.

Are they allowed to take toys in for playtime? If so, she could take in some Top Trumps or a Polly Pocket maybe?

Top Tumps - brilliant. Many thanks
