Has anyone had a toddler and newborn sleeping in their room?

Ds moved out of our room when he was four months old, but moved back in in April to make room for some guests. Due to teething/illness and the convenience of being able to reach out and pat him without having to get out of bed, he is still there (now 18 months). No. 2 is due on 1 October and I am worried that it is now too late to move ds out as it is only 6 weeks until the EDD. (Part of me doesn't really want to as it's lovely to be able to haul him into our bed in the morning.) Anyway, just wondering if it would be feasible to keep him in our room and have no. 2 in there as well or whether no. 2 is likely to keep ds awake.

Any experience? Thanks in advance...

We had DD and DS both in our room when DS was first born, he's 15 months now. We had DD on one side of our bed and DS in his cot on the other side and it was fine, can't remember how long it stayed like that but I remember after a while DH and and DD moved out into another room as they were being disturbed by DS.

Now we have me, DH and DD all in one room and DS in another. Am trying to get DD our of our room and in with DS but she keeps coming back! We still have a bed for her in our room tbh I don't really care where everyone sleeps as long as we all do actually get a decent night's sleep which we are all doing

Thanks for that. Part of me thinks I am mad to be even contemplating it and part of me thinks it will probably be manageable.

Anyone else with positive or negative tales to tell??

We were in a slightly similar situation when ds was born - but it wasn't planned that way!

Basically, when ds was a few weeks old, dd 2.10 , kept coming into our bed because she felt lonely and left out (her words). We didn't have the heart to insist she slept in her own bed so we let her sleep in between us. Fortunately ds was a pretty good sleeper after the first 2/3 weeks so nobody was really disturbed. Except me! (but that was only every 3 hours - not a big deal imo).

We still tend to go with the flow and they are now 3½ and 6!!

That's encouraging! I think we've pretty much decided now that we're going to try it and see how we go. As you say, neither of us has the heart to kick poor ds out to make room for the baby so I guess they'll be moved together after a few months!
