Moaning 8 year olds

Do all 8 year olds moan and whinge constantly?

This was our day:

DS gets up, comes downstairs and moans that its cold, I tell him to go and make his breakfast and he moans that he has headache and is too tired for breakfast.

After eating his breakfast I tell him to go and get a wash and brush his teeth, he moans that his younger brother is not getting a wash and brushing his teeth, why should he have to do everything etc

He goes into School.

I pick him up only to be told that someone had beaten him up, I asked him if he'd told the teacher, he said no so I said I would see the teacher on monday...he then moaned that nobody listens to him, nobody appreciates him and nobody respects him, I asked him why he thought this and he said "because!!".

We get home and he checks the letter box, the game he ordered has not yet arrived...he threw a tantrum moaning that he never gets anything, everytone else gets what they want but not him, nothing ever goes right for him.

At the moment he's moaning that his brother has made a mess in his bedroom and was earlier moaning that I was using the pc and he wanted to use it...all he ever does is moan, is it his age?

At least he is vocal.

I think that it is perfectly normal. His life is shocking as far as he can see.

DS now just grunts in response to questions

dd is the same - she moaned that I hadn't got her a 'good' enough comic earlier

Drives me mad

My ds moans a lot. Also when he is ill, he always has exaggerated responses to things. Ie, he can't just cough, but goes for a luxurious paroxysm. If he has a headache he walks around sort of hunched up and pathetic looking. I suppose this is a form of body language moaning!

It drives me mad.
