Is this wrong of me?

My dd is 2.2 and is on her way to giving up the daytime nap. She won't sleep in her cot during the day anymore, or her pram. The only place she falls asleep is in the car. We're usually out until after lunchtime and then drive back home, this is when she falls asleep. I leave her out in the car until she wakes up. I can see her from the living room window (have tiny front garden) and the car is locked. This is ok, isn't it?? People used to leave babies out in the garden in prams I suppose...

I have done that from time to time. Not on a regular basis but every now and again I think its fine.

My friend does it everyday. Its the only way her dd naps.

i do it, or did it, all the time here at home, but then, we are up a driveway and far from the road. never done it in london - but if you can see her, im sure it will be fine. trust your instincts; if it was at all dodgy youd feel it and not do it, right?>

Personally I wouldn't be happy doing it, but I have a friend who did it regularly with her ds from birth!

I have done this with my dd, although it was a long driveway and I did sit outside and have a cup of tea to keep an eye on her, As long as she is not hot and there is circulation in the car etc.

I used to do this with my kids, they only sleep a short time anyway.

Ummmm - presumably in this weather every window must be wide open in the car to prevent her from slow cooking.

It's your call but I wouldn't do it....

Actually i do it every day as well, or at least every time she falls asleep in car. My instincts were telling me that it was fine but some new neighbours commented on it the other day(not in negative fashion or anything) and it just got me thinking. THe woman is pregnant with her first and probably can;t imagine doing such an awful thing to her child ..

Did it lots with my two, especially when they were nearing the time when they'd drop the nap altogether. It's the only way I could get them to have the half hours sleep they'd need to tide them over till the evening.

Handlemecarefully - yes, windows down and the other day I even broke my car by leaving the fan on without the engine running and my bloody battery went flat!

The thing is with windows down don't you think she might be vulnerable? - possibility of waking and climbing out somehow etc?

I am lucky however, ds (just turned 3) is a very sound sleeper and I can lift him still sleeping out of his car seat and put him on the sofa without him emitting a murmur

Hmc, well she is strapped into her car seat, which she can't undo, and if I have the windows open I will go and sit on the front step until she wakes.

She is vile if she doesn't have a nap, and this is the only place she will sleep now...

I've done it with all 3 of min BTW. Windows open as appropriate, leaping up every 5 minutes to check on them, doors unlocked.

we live in appartments and the gates are broken so wouldn't do it here, we stay in the car with them til they wake but if where i lived was safe and it was a cool day i probably would tbh
