she is absolutely obsessed with the stuff! -
I didnt think this would start for a good 15 years yet...

we actually fight over my make up!! LOL
she sits and watches me putting it on in the mornings and always manages to get something away from me - she'll grab a (closed) mascara and rub it all over her face saying "oh wow!!!" she cries if I take it from her

This morning I couldnt find half of it - I keep my cases high up but she must have got into my handbag or something and has hid it all somewhere!!

I cant but laugh at her sometimes but on a serious note it does worry me... you know, I obviously dont want my little baby into make up - it can't be good for her self image. Im always telling her "you don't need any of that sweetheart, your too beautiful for it etc.." but of course she doesnt understand.

Am I being silly? does it matter when shes this small? I know shes just a little girl copying her mammy... or is it cause for concern? - shes really obsessed with it.

It's not about her body-image, not at all. It's about copying YOU and that's a good thing. My son with Aspergers didn't copy me.My dd does. If you don't want her to copy this, put your makeup on in private and hide the bag.

thanks aloha, your probably right - (first baby - worry about every little thing...)
I probably sounded ridiculous in reference to her body image at this little age, I suppose I meant I didnt want it to lead to that. I suppose conditioning her to a degree..

MY two do this...and I don't even wear make up.

So instead of stealing my make up (of which there is none), they crayon their faces, the girls have managed to have blue lips and yellow eyes, and red hands, it's water soluble crayon so it does get everywhere, they lick ad apply it...dd1 is 4 and dd2 is 2, and I just keep washing their faces......

DD (14 months) has her own makeup bag with a safety mirror, hairbrush, old tube of mascara, some eyeshadow and lipsticks that I have glued shut and a couple of cheapy arse brushes and sponges, she sits quite happily poking herself in the eyes with it.

MIL was not impressed when she saw her playing with it and said 'OMG she has got hold of your make-up, quick, rescue it' and I gaily replied...'it's ok, it's hers!'

Great to read this, dd 22mths is also obsessed with all things girly - but isn't atall girly herself iykwim? This morning she got my black YSL mascara and painted her lips and cheeks - she looked shocking. When she looked in the mirror I thought she'd get a face-cloth but no............ straight to my tube of exfoliating cleanser

Ahem. My ds knew how to curl his eyelashes when he was about 18 months. Still to this day (aged 5) he likes to put on a bit of Benefit Dandelion powder with a big old fat brush...
