DS 6.5 months just fell out of bed, feel so bad. Left him just a second and he was wedged onto the bedguard on the other side when I heard this massive bump.

Feeding now but also whinging.

Called doctors straight away and have appointment at half ten. Anything else I should/ can do?

Feel so crap, esp as I keep going on at dh not to leave ds alone on higher surfaces

Sorry, just had to talk about it as I am in a bit of shock too.

don't panic - you have done the right thing calling the GP. Whinging may be due to shock more than anything. The fact he is feeding is a good sign. Keep an eye for floppiness etc. I think you may feel worse than your DS ...

Just keep an eye on him. If he seems to be crying more than usual or can't stay awake when you would expect him to, then ring GP back - explain worries and ask if you can bring him in sooner or take him to hospital.

Don't feel bad about it - it has happened to us all at some point. Dh fell down the stairs with ds in his arms at 3mnths and dh didn't stop shaking for about 2 days.

Try not to worry, unfortunately for most families here, it's quite the norm and happens to most. If you do a search for it there must be loads of threads. It happened to me when ds was about the same age then about a week later it happened to dh!

Hope your doctors appoint goes OK and takes some worry away.

Yep, happened to both my dc when they were babies and they were both fine. More shocking for the parents I think!

Dont worry too muhc or feel to bad!

babies really do bounce and very rarely actually hurt themselves!

I dont think many babies get through baby-hood without a fall actually.

If you really are concerned obviously do go to GP.

I'm sure everything will be just fine. Yes, I've done it too, infact, I think I did it twice!! DD is a perfectly normal, well balanced 11 year old - well maybe well balanced is pushing it a bit, she's 11!!

Thanks everyone, just been to the GP as ds on top has a cough like a barking seal (nice) and he said the same as all of you "Don't worry, you are not the first one this happens to and you won't be the last one either. And babies are very bouncy and bendy."

Ds now is rolling about and up to things already again (just had to move a little table out of harms way, I think I will just empty our living room out).

Thanks again!
