Potty training - should I continue?

I've been potty training DS 2.7 for three days now, all three days we have had two wee accidents, everything else has been in the potty including no.2's. The only problem is that he is only going on the potty because I'm putting him on - he has only told me four times in the three days that he actually needs to go..... Should I carry on?!

P.s he does know the mechanics of it I think he is literally too lazy to be bothered and would rather just wee in a nappy whenever he wants to!

Have you thought about doing a star chart with him, asking him regularly if he wants the potty and then make a big fuss of doing the star chart afterwards?
It worked with DGS and he was reliably dry and clean within 3 days, him asking took a little longer. No wearing nappies by day, buy 'big boy pants' and let him chose them.
DGS was actually dry at night simultaneously, he would wake up and ask for the toilet, which was totally unexpected!
We used toilet seat with a step at home, potty when out.

Good luck!

That's really good going in three days! Keep at it!

Agree with P1nk about no nappies at all during the day

Up to you. DS and DD were similar. They knew what it was for but weren't interested. At 3.3 and 3.1 they decided in literally one day that they wanted to use the toilet and they've been dry day and night since.

He isn't in nappies at all apart from during the night. He just doesn't seem motivated to use the potty - he doesn't care either way! He did ask for a nappy earlier but I told him he isn't wearing them in the day anymore and he just said 'ok'! He literally would rather not make the effort but he stays with DM one day a week while I work and she isn't happy changing a nappy on a child his age. I'm hoping when he realises we aren't going back to nappies he will just be resigned to this being how it is now. He does seem to be doing ok, bless him.

Dc1 and dc2 were both the same, they didn't ask to go for months I had to keep reminding them. I.still considered them potty trained. Sounds like he's doing really wellsmile
