How much formula does your 10 month old have per day?

Had the 9/10 month check up with HV today and she says we are giving too much formula
She says by 10 months he should be having 18oz over a 24 hour period, which doesn't sound like very much to me
DS has two 7oz bottles during the day, an 8oz to go to bed with and a 7oz in the night, sometimes two in the night
We're reducing the amount in the day and night bottles now (hence the 7oz compared to 8 at bedtime) but HV says it's still far too much and we need to cut out any night time ones at all (Hmm of only it were that easy!)

How much formula does your little one have? Is mine having ridiculous amounts?

At that age 3 7oz bottles but dropped to 2 7oz bottles now he's 1. He's on cows milk now.

DD2 is 11 months now and has been on 2 7oz bottles (or 7oz first thing and 8oz at bedtime) for some time. She eats and drinks (water) really well all day long, and would certainly let me know if she wasn't getting enough.

I was still breastfeeding when we stopped night feeds at 9 months so no idea what she had been having. But did know she was consuming so much by day she didn't need to feed overnight. So did 1 night playing tough with her, she cried for an hour, but that sorted it.

Both mine dropped to 2 bottles around 11 months. It's 20 oz that's recommended up to 1 year and then it's 300mls from 1 year. I would try cutting the feeds in the night first as they don't really need them at that age

Oh, seems he is still having quite a lot more than other babies then

Yeah one morning one night and one during the day. Phased out the middle one from about 11 months.

Currently 8 months and having 3 bottles a day of 7oz each. I'd not be willing to give a bottle in the night unless on a rare occasion. If they think they'll get one, they'll ask (roar) for it. If you didn't have those bottles her intake would be pretty normal for her age I think. She's 2 months off stopping bottles altogether if you want so it sounds like she's a bit stuck in a younger routine.

DD is 11 months and has 1 8oz bottle in the morning and 1 8oz bottle before bed.

At 10 months I think she was on 3 8oz bottles.

I would just start reducing the night one first until it's completely eliminated, rather than the day one, as he shouldn't need any night feeds but if you reduce it in the day he'll try and make up for it at night.

I got told off too. My 11 month old is still having up to 5 bottles a day. As well as food. However, he just dropped below the line he had tracked the entire time (25th centile he's a littley) so I'm not making a big deal about it yet. But there we go.

I know mine only had 2 bottles a day by 5-6 months. This was back in the day when they were fully weaned by 16 weeks. They are fine and healthy though and seem fine ( high school age).

At that age, mine had 4 or 5oz in the morning and another 7oz before bed. She ate vast quantities of food though (e.g cereal, a banana, a boiled egg and toast for breakfast, two-course lunch, two course dinner, two snacks (fruit or cheese).

My 8mo is still having about 22oz over the day (spread over about 4 feeds) but we try to feed her as much food as she will take, to bring the milk intake down because frankly, I am so done with baby formula.

Just try to offer more food at each meal, and your bubs should gradually drop their milk intake naturally.

My ds has just turned 11 months and has a minimum of 20oz per day. The HV said pretty much the same to me at our 9 month review but he still wants the milk and so I'm not going to stop him having it. I have to agree with some of the others that your little one shouldn't need feeding in the night anymore. However trust your instinct and do what you think is best!

At 10 months I think we were doing 3 X 8oz bottles per day. Morning, lunch and bedtime. At 11 months we dropped the lunchtime one and then around 12 months dropped the morning one. Now at 14 months he just has a bedtime bottle of cows milk and a cup of milk with meals.

Planning on getting rid of that bedtime bottle soon, but we have been travelling etc so decided to keep it for continuity until we get back to normal.

My DS has 6oz at 6am, 4oz at 2pm & 6oz at 6pm. So 16oz in total. Just eats exactly what's we eat too. But he's still a chunky monkey! When he's teething & not wanting to eat much I tend to give him a 4oz at around 10am. But only if he's not 100%

9 month old DD2 just has one 8oz bottle at bed, but she eats a lot of solids! DD1 was the same, she self-weaned from the boob at 9 months and then just had one bottle before bed. As long as your DS is happy and growing I wouldn't worry too much about what the HV says, all babies are different!
