'Is she good....'

I hate this question.

The reality....Every sleep is a battle, she fights it like a ninja. She will not nap for more than 30 mins at a time. We are nowhere near to 'sleeping through' at 9 months. Last night we had a full on hour and a half screaming session for no apparent reason. She insists on waking up a round 5 am, no matter how much sleep she has had.
Nappy changing is a nightmare, she rollers over and crawls away, or screams. Dressing/undressing gets much the same reaction.
Bath time has become so traumatic it is now nothing more than a quick wash while she stands up in the bath howling.
Trying to wipe her face/hands usually results in a full on meltdown. Leaving her in one place for any length of time results in more screaming. I could go on....

My reply... Oh, well she's not that bad

I sympathise... I don't know what they expect you to say. I usually just say 'um...well... More or less...' while feeling guilty because he's a wonderful little boy whom I absolutely adore but he resolutely will not sleep... Or be put down for even a minute.. or eat anything I make...

'Well she hasn't robbed any banks yet' GrinWink
Completely get where you're coming from, both my Ds were shocking sleepers, and I always felt like I was surrounded by perfect little babies who slept through the night from 4 weeks old... Was more chilled with second DS and ignored any negative comments, just did what worked.
FWIW eldest is 12 yrs old now and sleeps like a log!

Oh I REALLY hate that question. I still get it now and DD is 2. What the fuck am I supposed to say? "Well, you know, apart from the petty theft, vandalism and car crime, she's good..." I normally mumble something about her having her moments.

OP, mine was just as hard work at 9 months but actually started sleeping through around 13 months. It's still very hit and miss and at least half the time she'll wake, but the nights can change quickly. Meanwhile, Flowers

I took ds for his 13 month jabs this morn and got complimented on what a lovely laid back little boy he is! Ha! He still isn't a good sleeper, nappy changes are a battle of wills and he can destroy a room in 5 seconds flat. Apart from when he's eating he doesn't sit still for 2 seconds together.

He does love the bath though...he just doesn't like getting out of the bath.

I hear you. It's up there with 'ooh, somebody's not happy!' Laughing whilst saying it as dc3 screams in protest at being put in the pram, or just because it's Wednesday, or sunny [insert the million other random things dc3 currently screams about, I haven't worked them all out yet]. I just want to scream MOST UNHELPFUL THING TO SAY TO A STRESSED PARENT OF A SCREAMING TODDLER!!!

Sorry for thread derail OP, as you can guess that one has been bugging me a while. And breathe Smile

Ps I always smile brightly and say yes he's great! But oddly, not been asked so much recently since the screaming commenced....

I hate that question. Never an idea what to say.
'no,she is not good, she is a baby. They are awful little tyrants with no sense of consideration. '

Thanks for all the replys, they made me smile and it's always good to know your not the only one. Daisy the 'somebody's not happy' is also a bugbear of mine!
They are little tyrants but than you get a lovely snuggle or a little giggle and it all becomes worthwhile. Until they do actually start robbing banks, of course.

I told the truth lol mine was an easy baby so said yes when she was a baby. Later on when I was asked I'd h just say well she's hard work! Which was the truth!

Really bugged me too.

I used to say, "he's perfect, doesn't sleep much though"
