How long does your 2.5 year old nap for?

I'm getting to the point where I really want to stop the naps but DS still seems to need them. He sleeps 12.45 until 2pm (when I wake him) and nights 8.30 until 7.30am (again, I usually wake him). DS1 had stopped napping by 2.9yo but it had literally been 45mins in the car for months before he gave them up.

Almost 2.4 and sleeps for 1.5-2 hours during the day, and then from 6:30/7 until 5:30/6 overnight.

Skipping the nap doesn't help the early mornings, unfortunately.

P.s the odd day he hasn't had a nap he has been out like a light at by 7pm and slept until 7.30am but been quite restless for the first few hours of the night, which I believe is a symptom of over tiredness.

My DD is 3.3 yrs old and has only just dropped her in the last 2 months. She was still taking 2-3 hour naps at that age, but reliably going to bed at 7pm. Things started to change probably from about 2.9 yrs and she would have difficulty going to bed so we became much stricter and only let her nap for an hour. We have now cut it out completely, bar the odd car journey sleep of the timings are right, and find that she now goes straight to sleep no problems. The only difficult bit is that afternoons can be tricky as she's clearly getting tired and can get stroppy!

Ds is 2.7 years and will sleep for 3 hours if I let him, he wakes at 5.30 if we let him sleep that long though so he usually only gets 2 hours.

My just turned 2 year old doesn't nap at all. If she accidentally dozes off in the car or wherever she won't go to bed until around 10pm.

2.8yo and we only let him nap for an hour. Been doing it for the last couple months as he wasn't going down at bed time without multiple calls for us and was waking early in the morning.

DS is 2.6 and just stopped his.

He goes to bed at 7pm and wasn't sleeping till almost 9pm if I let him nap! We went through a phase where I gave him a nap every couple of days/when he needed it, and to be honest he's a bit grumpy towards the end of the day perhaps once or twice a week at the moment. He'll always sleep in the car it we're in it for more than 10 mins.

I thought he'd be one of those who would nap until he got to school, he's always slept so much! I never thought it would drop this early.

Both of mine had stopped napping at that age unless we went on a long car journey then they would drop off in the car.

Ds is 2.8. He dropped naps himself a few months ago and was sleeping 7pm until 5.30/6.00 am.

But then we went away in June and he had a few naps on holiday and obviously liked them. If I let him he would sleep for 2 hours but then still be awake at 10pm.

Over the last few days I have been keeping him awake and hoping bedtimes improve again. I have also just bought a groclock in the hope of keeping him in bed in the morning.

DD is nearly 2.5 and sometimes naps for about an hour, sometimes just rests in her room instead.

We've managed to encourage her to go up to her room for a rest even if she doesn't sleep. We've got a reading corner and some little simple toys and sometimes she'll sleep sometimes she'll potter.

Either way I get a cuppa and a non-nagged biscuit.

We have literally just stopped DS1s naps and he is 3 in a few weeks. He really wants to 'have a little nap' as he puts it, after lunch but we were finding he was messing about in his room until 830/9 PM and then still waking up 545/6. Since cutting it out he is out like a light at 7pm and sleeping until 630/7. He still has down time in the afternoon when I let him watch tv for half an hour or so and that seems to recharge his batteries!

DS is 2.2 and some days naps and some days doesn't. On the days he doesn't he's asleep at6pm and will sleep until 6-6.30am. On the days he does nap he will sleep for 2+hrs but not go to bed until 8.30-9pm and still wake at 6.30am ish. Naps have become a bit annoying to be honest and id rather he drop them but I'm trying to be child led with it and let him get there in his own time. Easier said than done when you have a 2mo as well and desperately want your evenings back.

Oh T0ddler how did you do that?! I've tried quiet room time but totally failed at it. DS just followed me around with his book.

Today he sat the sofa with the tablet whilst I watched telly. parent fail

My Ds is 2.6 and seems to have had his last nap last week! He has been refusing ever since. Previously he was having a couple of hours after dinner, going to bed at about 7:45 and then chatting to himself until about 9. Now he goes straight to sleep when he goes to bed. Unfortunately it hasn't helped him sleep in at all and is still up at around 6:30am.

My 2.9 still has a two hour nap 1.30-3.30 and bed at 730. She wakes up between 8-830am...think they are all different!

Why do you want to stop them??! its not interfering with his night sleep as you say you have to wake him in morning?! My 2.5 year olds DS generally sleeps 1 1/2/ 2 1/2 hrs in afternoon and its my chill time, I'd hate his naps to stop!!

Dd will be three in October and she still needs a nap. She usually has at least an hour and a half (1.30-3pm when I wake her). She goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps until 7.30.

Dd is 2.5 and naps anything between 1 and 3 hours after lunch. She then sleeps 8-6 at night. I am dreading the day she decides she doesn't need it anymore. I need it!

At that age mine napped 1pm-3pm. Bedtime was 7pm-7:30am. I stopped their naps when they turned 3.

Dd1 is 2.5 and generally stopped her naps when she turned two. She sleeps 8-8.30- 7-7.30.

However on the odd occasion she has had get nap bedtime becomes a complete and utter nightmare and we are lucky if she's asleep before 10 so we try everything to stop her napping Confused

Mine stopped napping just before she turned 2. She will sometimes fall asleep if in buggy/car but then won't go to sleep at night until almost midnight. We encourage quiet time in afternoon too- quiet reading/half an hour tv. She's now 2.3.

The only reason I have for wanting to stop is that he only really naps in his cot, which makes it awkward to plan days and also he doesn't go to sleep before 8.30pm, usually 9pm, which doesn't leave much of an evening for me and DH! On the odd day when he hasn't napped he has been out like a light before 7pm and still slept until 7.30am - that is a pattern I would enjoy!

DS is 2.5 and sleeps from 7:30pm - 7am (ish).

He sleeps from 1pm - 3pm/3:30pm at the weekends. At nursery they have a shorter mid day nap, more like an hour and a half, I think.

If we go for a big day out and skips his nap he doesn't sleep later, he's just in a bad mood in the afternoon. Never sleeps in the car.
