does this make me a bad parent?

We've been blessed by wonderful weather and yet I can't face going outside. I suffer from anxiety and PND. If my DP is here I can go out for a walk / to the park with DS (1 and a bit) however when he's not around I just really can't bring myself to get out of the house.
I know my DS is missing out but it just fills me with so much dread. Plus I'm feeling particularly shitty this week.
Does this mean I'm a bad parent?

I don't have any friends i can't go for a walk with either (because all my friends stopped talking to me after I got pregnant with DS). I have family close by but they're always busy.

If it's all the time, it's a bit of a shame for your 1 year old. Do you have a garden? Bikes? A car? But still, you are not a bad parent - just one who can't face going out at the moment.

Be brave and do a short walk for fresh air and see how you feel after.

No your not a bad parent you are suffering with PND and aniexty.

How old is your ds?. Do you have a garden? Paddling pool? Swing/football/swing ball/ water pistol in the garden can be fun or just playing with his toys in the garden if his only little.

No you aren't a bad parent. I'm 37 weeks pg and I can't face taking 2.9 yo DD outside either. The last time I did it took an entire day to recover.

Just do fun things inside, take each day at a time. Outside fun can be a special bonding activity for your DC with other people. You don't have to do all of the things. You just do your best. Happy parents make for happy kids.

No you're not a bad parent. I was the same up until recently when circumstances changed. I still don't get out much on my own with my toddler as it can be a bit difficult with a newborn too, but we can play in the garden instead.
Just make the most of relaxing inside and doing activities together indoors. As a pp said; happy parents make for happy kids, so don't let it worry you.

Don't beat yourself up about the sunny weather: depending on where you are in the country, I'd say it's been borderline too hot to be out and about with a 1yo. I'd certainly be keeping him in the shade, perhaps just in the garden early morning or late afternoon.

Feeling unable to get out of the house is a bigger issue though. Definitely not a bad parent, just one who's struggling with this. I'd agree with wow. Don't be overwhelmed by trying too much. Just a walk to the end of the road and back would be lovely for your DS. One step at a time.

And I do know how far the end of the road can seem. A month after DD was born, DH said that the gift he would like for a significant anniversary that was coming up was for me to buy him a card from the shop at the end of the road. I took a photo of DD and me outside that shop.

It's hard. But I honestly think that setting yourself achievable goals is the way to go (or someone else setting them for you when nothing seems achievable). End of the road and back. And be proud of yourself.
