Cutting baby's nails

How often do you do it?

I'm doing it every couple of weeks as short as I dare and he's still gouging skin out of his head and my boobs.

Tried scratch mitts, he straight out refused to feed! Help!

Couple of times a week

About twice a week. I think needs doing a bit more than that though to keep on top of them.

How old is your baby? Do you do it when they're asleep? Do you have a partner who can help?

I do it about once a week. I can get them shorter by cutting them while she's asleep. She used to have eczema on one side of her head and regularly scratched and made herself bleed, the sleepsuits in her size no longer coming with built in mitts and she won't keep regular mitts on either.
Luckily it's cleared up now but shes still a bugger for scratching herself no matter how often I do them!

Only cut them a few days ago and today she had three scratches on her face, they grow way too fast!

3 and a half months old. I'm just a bit scared of doing it more often as if they haven't got a bit of length I'm convinced I'll slip and cut him. The fingers are so tiny!

You have to use clippers, and while holding their fingers, sort of pull the finger pad down away from the nail so it opens up the 'cutting area'. This way you can cut them really short. Never once cut my ds.

Get a baby nail file really soft grit use it on your own nail so you know it's not to hard and file the nails, it doesn't tend to be the length as such as the little nails are so thin still the are sharp. You have much less risk of cutting with a file and it can be cleaned after each use with sanitising spray. Use as needed I used to do a hand at a time to get him used to it.

At least twice a week for,his fingernails but hardly ever for toenails!!
