This has probably been posted about hundreds of times but I am at my wits end with my 21mo and constipation.
She has been suffering from constipation since she turned 1 and it's just not improving.
We have tried all kinds of dietary things which haven't worked and it seems a psychological issue. I think DD hates the sensation of passing a solid stool.
She is pooing on average once/twice per week but is trying to poo up to 15 times per day. Her nappy/bottom seems constantly smeared with a very small amount of poo, where it appears the poo has reached the end of her bum but she won't pass it out. This means her bum is sore a lot and she has a lot of nappy changes (which she doesn't like). When she does finally poo it is enormous.
We have been prescribed Movicol (just 1 sachet per day) but all this seems to do is make the poo very soft and sticky. DD doesn't appear to mind/even realise she is passing these which can lead to over 10 small sticky poos a day, without any solid substantial movement, which inevitably leads to me stopping the Movicol because I don't think this is tackling the issue.
I feel like a constant cycle of on/off Movicol and I don't know what else to do. Should I continue with the Movicol (with the 10+ poos a day) or battle without Movicol (with the constant soiling and stressful poos).
