DD is 21 months, was rushed to a specialist hospital 120 miles away from home as it was discovered she had a bleed on the brain. she has totally recovered n is back to normal but child protection n social services are involved and are putting her into foster care 2mora as they say she is at risk living with us. They are also planning on taking out baby away when it is born as they are accusing me n DP of throwing her around n abusing her. All we know is she fell off the sofa n found her on the floor unconcious when i was at wrk n DP looking after her. They have no evisence of us doing anything and we havent done anything to hurt her, we dont even tap her hand or anything. Its ridiclous, im in such a state. She is my world n they taking her away for no reason. Any advice or anyone else been in similar condition?
Many thanks x

No advice, but didn't want to ignore your post, so will bump it before turning in. There is another mner who has experience of something similar I think. I'm sorry you're going through this.

Has your daughter had other injuries previously?

Sorry but my ds has fallen of the sofa and bed a couple of times, as toddlers do. And it certainly wasnt a high enough distance for him to do as much damage as a bleed to the brain.

How high is your couch?
Sorry but it seems a wee bit odd to me

Social services would need a lot of medical notes and reports before they accused you of abuse.
they would also need to go to a child protection hearing and get a court order in order to remove the child from you.

Im afraid you will have to give further information before i would be able to offer any real advice. if it has gotten to the stage of them comeing to colelct her tomorrow then there really is little you can do as you will have effectivly have been found to have injured your child.

They must have very seriouse concerns if they are talking of removing your baby at birth as well. normal procedure would be to place that child on the at risk register and give intensive monitering.

Did your DD get medical treatment for this too?

I spoke to DD on the phone a minute before she was unconcious. Dp walked out the room to get her shoes n came bk n found her unconcious on the floor then called ambulance. All they said are the injuries caused are too significant to have happened with her falling less than 3foot. As for previous injuries then she has got none, never been hospital before, always bumping head but not serious although always in the same place which is where the bleed was found. They said they putting her into care while they carry out further investigations for her safety. They asked no questions to anyone, not even us n it happened nearly 3 weeks ago.

I wondered this too HC. Maybe thats why SS are reacting in this way.

Is she in hospital already and the decision has been made or at home with you?

You need to get in contact with a family services solicitor. SSD must have gone to court to seek an emergency protection order to allow removal of your daughter just while they investigate. Have they acutally said they will take newborn too? What you need to do is to find out exactly what their views are. This all seems very sudden and rushed, has there been any prior involvement of SSD?

Bov very upsetting to have your duaghyer removed, thankfully she is only young and if all is well, wil be back with you as swiftly as possible.

It is important to find out exactly what happened. Will SSD let you assume full care for daughter if they are accusing your dp? I know some fam solicitors post on here so will bump it for you.

Keep as calm as you can (i know that is an almost impossible ask). Thinking of you x

Forgot to mention, they also found a blled at the base of her spine but nothing was done about that but its apparently dated 4 days before the bleed on the brain. Surely an injury like that would have caused her pain on at least difficulty moving?

NUrseryJO - sounds likely and EPO was sought. THey can move very fast at time esp with injuries req hosp admission.

Shes still in hospital they taking her from there, iv been allowed supervised contact for a couple hours over the weekend. They want me to sign the papers to give permission for her to go into care 2mora

Has your partner got other children? Is he known to SS at all from previous relationships or anything - just trying to work out why she could be being taken away without much communication with you.

Do you mean base of her skull?

Report
MamazonAKAfatty · 08/01/2007 00:22

the two posts describing incidents of her naging her head seemt o have cuased quite serious injuries both times.

im not a Dr but i would also not have thought a fall from a setee would have caused her to fall unconcious, so i can fully accept the hospital would have reffered you to SS.

3 weeks is about the quickest you could get an EPO so they must have been very seriously concerned for your daughter as i would assume they started proceedings whilst she was still in hospital.

both these incidents however seem to have happened whilst your baby was with someone else. Whilst this may seem like a dreadfull situation i would advise kicking your partner out, quitting your job and then asking for residency with ongoing supervision.

If they going to take your child into care, they dont have to ask your permission,

Dp got no other children, just pregnant with his child atm. No real explanations but i work in a nursery n he works with special needs adults. Not sure if they were trying to frighten me into a confession or summat cos i got no solicitor yet but my dad seems to think they would be sacked if they aid that in front the solicitor

You need a solicitor fast.

I don't know you and of course i am only judging by these two posts but i would be concerned that you hadn't sought medical advice after the first incident. for her eyes to be bloodshot could have quite easily have caused some seriouse damage.

i would suggest you inform the dr's of this straight away as it may well explain the bleed.
i would also advise you to geta statement from the cousin who was babysitting confirming your story
