Urgent Advice on 2 1/2 year old ds1

morning all, I really need some wise advice.

Ds1 is 2 1/2 and has a speech delay. He has such a temper and tantrums at the drop of a hat. Throws himself on the floor if not happy, throws stuff on the floor, headbutts when doesn't get his own way, it's starting to wear us out.

No form of discipline works.....he laughs at the naughty step, time out doesn't work. I stop time on the pad (he loves nursery rhymes and YouTube) (he doesn't have it too much) also if I say no to stuff he will grab a dining room chair and try and get it himself.

And to top it off he doesn't sleep past 5am. He refuses to go back to sleep even thou tired. Oh is getting very worked up by it all as he gets up with him as I get up with ds2 for night feeds.

It's making my life miserable as ds1 is such a handful and oh always unhappy. I don't really know where to go from here or what to expect? maybe if he had more sleep? Maybe if he could communicate with us?

I don't want oh hating ds1 as when he is good he is the most sweetest, loving and funny little boy.

Is he a bit young for the methods you're using? Don't think my 2yo would get the concept on iPad time or time out - we're mostly redirecting, ignoring or just lift her away from wherever she shouldn't be.

Has your partner looked into wake to sleep, gro clocks or just return to bed with minimum stimulation methods to get DS to sleep longer? Cut down daytime naps?

TBH I wouldn't be impressed with DH for not being more empathetic, not helpful though... A new baby is a massive readjustment for DS, he probably just needs time to come to terms with it and the speech delay probably doesn't help.

Hi thanks for replying.
We do ignore him or redirect, Sometimes it works other times it doesn't.

I will look into the gro clock have read a bit about them. We have tried returning to sleep but he gets back out of bed and stands by the stair gate shouting Sad

He doesn't have daytime naps either Shock Like you have said its prob a combo of frustration with speech and adjusting to his brother. I'm hoping it will settle soon as his brother is 9 months :)
