do your kids jump in the bath with you?

Hi I was just wondering if you let your children jump in the bath with you? and what ages they were when you stopped it? And does it matter on the sex of the child?

Curious as a lot of people have different opinions so I thought I'd get great feedback on here.

Thank you

Xx

My son is 4 and I happily bath with him. I am 37 weeks oregnant and it's a bit if a squeeze but it's lovely.

I'm not sure when I'll stop as he often asks me if I'll come in. My folks were often naked around us and I'd like him to be comfortable in his skin!!

That said my husband would 't bathe with him but I think that's more a space issue!!

I'd take the lead from my child. Once they thought it inappropriate, it would stop.

Never have done. They never asked me if they could and I never asked them if they wanted to. I think on balance I would rather not. I like to read a book in the bath.

Yes, I do. Two dd's, 4 and 7. Not very often (it's not a practical way of getting clean!), but they love it and it's a super way of calming them down a reconnecting a bit if we need it.

My 9 year old still gets in the bath with me (very large bath) - I know he'll stop diving in when he feels like it

No never happened. I like to relax in the bath so wait till they're asleep!

My DS used to a lot, but stopped when he was about 6. It just fizzled out, a bit like him not getting in our bed anymore.

How old are your DC Georgia?

My DC are 6, 8 and 10 and a mix of sexes. The younger two still jump in the bath with me occasionally. The eldest used to but hadn't for ages.

When my dc were small (pre-school/reception age) and I'd had enough I used to wander upstairs, run a bath and get in. Within 5 minutes I'd have three dc in the bath with me. I would then extract myself from the bath, and let them splash about. They were then ready for bed - even if it was only 5:30.

When I read 'Five Minutes Peace' by Jill Murphy I used to reckon that she'd set up cameras in my house, though!

Ok that's brill.

Mine are 5.5 and 2.5 and both boys. A friend of mine thinks my eldest is to old for a bath with mummy, mainly because he's a boy.. She doesn't have children mind you but says she won't bath with her children when she has them because she thinks her body is to developed for a child to see?

Me and my boys often have a splash about and have some quality time. I find that it's one of the few times my eldest actually sits still lol so we have some great conversations in the bath..

However my partner will not be seen naked or share a bath with the kids, he feels it's wrong and likes to keep himself private from the children, which is fine with me but I'm not bothered if they see me. I breast fed my children anyway so they are used to seeing my boobs.

I'm also nearly 40 weeks so for me it's a squeeze too lol but we manage if I sit at the deep end lol! Xx

Yes. Both boys, eldest same age as yours. I can't see it stopping any time soon. They also share with Dh

I throw my 3 ds in with hubby they're 8 5 and 9m usually this gives me a quick 5 min to get pj's ready etc. They don't come in with me but for no other reason than I like my baths in peace not because I think there's anything wrong with it although i can guarantee 1 of them will need a poo when I'm in the bath so peace goes out the window

Never have done, I only usually shower not bath. In any case there's not much room in the bath with an adult in there. No issues with nakedness though we have always had an open door policy on the bathroom and it's very normal to have someone ekse in the room when bathing or showering. DCs are 9 and 11.

My eldest is now 13 and he's starting to develop so he stopped having a shower with me last year. We do still wander around naked though as our bathroom is downstairs so we'll quickly jump out of bath then run up stairs. I think I'm teaching my son that women's bodies aren't all the same. I think it's made him more self aware and body confident too.

I'd forgotten but yes, brother and me did take baths with our parents, probably to around aged 6.

I'm with sparkling. Never have done, prefer my bath to myself.

Just had a bath with 16mo and 3.5yo DSs this evening. DS1 loves skin-to-skin still so it's a way of luring him in for a wash and as soon as DS2 sees boobs in easy reach, he's on them. There's always a bit of a slippery fight on my lap as a result, but we're all eventually spooning quite happily.

Getting clean has nothing to do with it for me since DS1 gives a running commentary on every wee he squeezes out under the water. Apparently, if you wee into your hand, it doesn't get into the water. Apparently.

I do find it a bit strange that people who don't want or need to bath with their DC are automatically assumed to be all uptight about nakedness. Confused

Can't see evidence of that assumption, Sparkling?

Never. They jumped in the shower with me a few times but that always ended up with both parties moaning because It was too hot or too cold.

As far as nakedness goes mine still see me naked (9 & 7). But I'm showering and going to the loo in peace thankyouverymuch.
