How many nappies do you go through for one baby

I easily go through 140 nappies a week (two boxes of pampers) my dd literally goes all the time so therefore obviously needs changed all the time. She eats around every 2 hours during the day (more often every 1.5) but does sleep all night... She's 21 weeks and I don't know to me my bank balance :(just seems like a lot?! Lol

I only change straight away if DD has done a poo, otherwise its every 3 or so hours (unless nappy looks heavy) and 10 hours through the night (she sleeps through). Roughly that's 6 nappies a day.

For 12 week old I would say a max of 10 a day probably only about 6.
For 22 month old 4 or 5 max

When you say she sleeps all night are you changing 20 nappies in a 12 hour period?

At nursery we would have changed at 8pm, 11am, 2pm, 5pm and the parents would do the 1st and last so 6 - changed more if they had more dirty nappies but generally changed every 3/4 hours.

I'd say about half a dozen a day unless there's some frequent pooping (DD is 8 months)

If you need that many could you switch to cheaper ones like Boots, Asda or Aldi?

You don't need to change wet ones all the time! Nappies can last 12 hours overnight, so you can leave them a while in the day (not suggesting 12 hours!).

Nurseries tend to check every hour or so and change maybe every two/three hours? Obviously ASAP if dirty. DD is there from 8-4 and has 3 changes, I'd probably only do 2 at home normally.

Remember they wick moisture away from the skin, so even a wet nappy will still feel pretty dry to a baby.

I think that is loads! By 'goes all the time' do you mean poos? If your using 140 a week that means 20 nappies a day? If she sleeps all night that's one nappy and in the waking hours you don't really need to change her 19 times do you? That's more than hourly? My ds is 9 months we probs use about 5/6 nappies a day?

Averages to 3 to 4 a day, once in the morning, one around mid afternoon, one before bed. The extra one if there's been a poo. Even at 4 a day that's only 28 a week. Cheap nappies are about 10p a nappy, so 2.80 a week. Think you may be changing them too often. At nursery they change them more often but nappies are included in the price.

When mine were that age, about 6 times a day, 42 nappies a week.

She seems to get annoyed though and each time the indicator line is usually almost changed completely blue if not at least partially blue so I just change and she is then happier. She does about 4 or 5 big poos a day but also just small ones (throughout the day with lots of pees)And yeah that means 20 nappies during the day as she does sleep all night.! Wish I was over exaggerating but it really is that many I think it happens because she does eat so frequently throughout the day because obviously what goes in must Come out it just feels like the eating and changing cycle is relentless!

Ds was changed about 6 times a day, and I didn't change him at night unless he pooed. I don't understand how your dd can need more than 3 times that amount. Are you changing her every time she pees?

Are you using new baby nappies? Maybe try the normal baby dry pampers or whatever make, maybe the new baby nappies are a bit less absorbant because you change them more frequently as newborns. I don't think the indicator line means you should change them just indicates they have weed, it's probably coincidence that she's happier once you've changed her they like having there nappy off! I've only noticed the new born indicator line on newborn nappies with this baby, they never used to have them when my other dc's were babies? I think it's only relevant if your worried if they have weed or not first few days, you don't need to look at the indicator line now, stop looking at it

20 nappies is excessive though. If you've always been changing that much it's no surprise she gets annoyed when they're a little wet - she's not used to it.

The indicator line is a very handy, helpful way...for Pampers to sell more nappies!

I had 18 cloth nappies, which I laundered about every third day, so about 6 a day.

PLEASE try Aldi Mamia nappies. I've been using Asda's Little Angels (£12 for 3 50 packs of size 3) and they've been fine but heard so many good things about Mamia that I had to try them. I got a box of 98 for £6.79 - not sure if this is always the price but I was really pleased with them and will definitely be getting them again. Had thought about using Pampers for night time but DS has been sleeping through from 8pm until 5:30am usually and no leaks, so no need.

Wow. Change to sainsburys, aldi or lidl nappies for day time ago stop worrying about the indicator strip. They're very absorbant and a dribble of wee shouldn't bother. Put barrier cream on if you think it might bother her, then only change every 2-3 hours, or when it's a code brown.

My dd is 11 weeks. On average I'd say we use 6 a day. I only change immediately if I hear/smell her poo otherwise I change every 3/4 hours and rarely overnight.

I changed as soon as I became aware of a wee or poo, its a while ago now but I think in the early days probably at least 10-12 a day? I was using reusables though, so cost wasn't really an issue. As a side benefit DD only pooed in the toilet by about 12 months, and when toilet training she was very aware if she was wet.

If she is pooing that often at 21 weeks I think you should see the GP. Our DD was the same, and it turned out she had an allergy.We changed her milk and now only change 1 or 2 poopy nappies a day.

My ds2 is 18 weeks and we change every 3 hours or at every poo. He poos about once every two days (breast fed).

Ds1 is 25 months and is changed about 4 times a day.

If the pampers are working out expensive buy cheaper ones through the the day and leave the pampers at night that's what we do for both ds's

Blimey that's loads! DS is 10 weeks and we use 10 a day maximum. Aldi size 3, 4.49 a pack. 44 in a pack i think.

If they aren't getting a rash, leave it longer - but by 9mo or so they are weeing in episodes rather than on-off constant dribble, so most people can go down to 4-5 nappies a day then.

Also until they are mobile you can leave them in a warm room on a towel with no nappy - easier in summer but could work in your bathroom or house?

Feeling the expense was one reason I used washables after the first few weeks - bundles can be very cheap on Gumtree/Facebook preloved etc and some babies prefer them to disposables (some are other way round, admittedly)

Honestly it's not really the money I was just curious as to see if anyone else's baby goes just as often but she seems to be a bit unique! She's happy and healthy and I had been told by GP that they can't go too often as long as poo is normal runny mustard colour etc. I wouldn't leave her in a wet nappy if it was annoying her regardless if it had only been 10 mins since last change even with bepanthem barrier cream on so will just keep changing when she wants! hopefully maybe when I start introducing puréed foods at 6 months maybe it will ease off a bit!

The cheaper nappies are just as good though OP so you might as well save yourself some money. Surely if she sleeps all night though, she is sleeping in a 'wet' happy with no ill effects? So would be able Togo longer between changes during the day. Seems to be one extreme to another!!

Also, i don't know if you will be using a nursery or childcare of any sort, but if so they are unlikely to change her as often as you do. You must be changing her every 40minutes? It must be relentless!
