What things does the HV check on this visit?

It was a while ago for ds (he's 20months now) but I remember it being very straight forward. They measured him, and weighed him, asked about his eating and sleeping, asked when I stopped bf and how weaning had gone (our was a 9-12 month check and ds was nearer 11 months). They asked about his crawling/cruising/walking ( ds could walk by then), things like waving and pointing, babbling, comprehension. Checked that I thought he could see and hear ok. Ours was done by the nursery nurse rather than the hv and I remember thinking that a check list sent to the house would be just as useful!

Ours was done as a group of about 6 mums at once. They just told us lots of info IIRC eg told us we need to start giving daily vitamin drops etc, and then weighed and measured as normal.

I had an HV come to my house for a 10 month check not a year one, and she used the Ages and Stages questionnaire to asses his various gross and fine motor skills, communication and problem solving. I recieved it and had to try what was on it with DS and fill it in, then she came to chat about it and just observe him doing his thing! Google ASQ 12 months and you'll get the idea. Not everywhere will do that though. I quite like them as a guide to what a child could do at various ages but the HV did say some people hate them and panic when their child can't do everything on there when some of the milestones will span a few months to account for developmental differences.

Same as buglife. We were sent the ages and stages questionnaire to fill in. Nursery nurse went through that with us.
DD was weighed and measured. Chat about weaning and general health. That was it!

I was sent a really badly worded questionnaire obsessed with what he could do with a cheerio. The nurse on the day weighed, measured and then we debated the shit wording a bit before deciding he was normal Grin
