What does your toddler wear on feet in summer?

My 18 month old is a good walker and has been walking running for last 6 months or more. I went in to local shoe shop and was told not to put her in open sandals until after age of 2. Anyway I just wonder if this is general advice?

Ds has got crocs which he LOVES, they are indestructible and comfy and he wears them with or without socks tk Maxx has them for a tenner rather than £26 a pair!

18 month old walking for 8 months wears wellies or doodles.

I don't like open toed shoes on young children due to accidents.

I found crocs good at that age.

My daughter has Clarks doodles which are canvas and just go in the washing machine and bought her some jelly shoes for holiday which she has been wearing but are more enclosed than sandals

Grow sell nice closed toe type shoes with holes at the side for more airy feel in summer

Baby crocs or Clarks doodles. Dd is only just a size 3 and the little crocs are adorable. She loves them and finds them very comfortable.

I also agree with crocs. my dd has just got open toe sandals this year at 3 and only because her older sister has some. however both times shes worn them she has tripped over and hurt herself numerous times so may buy a new pair of crocs instead!

You can get closed rose sandals for this exact reason - try Clarks, Startrite or M&S

I keep her in these converse type shoesie I bought from next. She has open toe sandals as well. Shes only a size 3 (14m). She does prefer to run around barefooted like me though (secret inner hippies we are)

Both my boys have canvas shoes - doodles by Clarks- and enclosed sandles. Don't do open toe due to having a nasty accident when I was child.

I've found Sainsbury kids sandals very good over the last few years. They have covered toes which avoid the inevitable stubbing problems with open toed versions but are comfy, durable and survive a gentle washing machine cycle

DS1 had a pair of open toed sandals from Clarks last summer from when he was 18mo - 21mo when it got too cold to wear them any more. He never once stubbed or hurt his toes and wore them at nursery, on holiday in Majorca, on the beach, at the park etc.

He also loved his crocs too though so maybe get a pair of those if you're worried about sore toes x

We spent last summer somewhere where it was regularly 40C, my 2 1/2 year old wore Doodles (not open toed) with socks. He didn't perish of heat exhaustion. I prefer with socks because of blisters at this age.

Closed toe sandals! Last year Clarks. This year Startrite. I hate open toe shoes on kids (ouch if they fall over!) and Crocs should only be on very occasionally, bad for feet.

Gosh I've never heard this. My 19 month old is wearing Clarks open toed sandals and hasn't tripped/had any accidents so far

DD had sandals with a rounded closed toe, from Start Rite. So still nice and ventilated at the sides but no chance of toe stubbing

Crocs have actually been clinically proven to be good for your feet (obvs depending on the environment), and definitely way better for you than sandals and flip flops as they have a supportive well cushioned sole, toe covering, and hell strap. So there.
