Lost bear - what to do?

DS, who is 2.5, has lost his much loved bear. At the moment we've said he is hiding (hide and seek is very popular at the moment) as we thought he may have been lost at home but have to accept we probably won't find him now. The bear was from M&S and was discontinued some time ago so can't buy a duplicate. Any advice on how to handle this - he's going to be really upset.

No idea on how to handle it.

But ..

... let's all take a picture or two of the Beloved Bear in our family so that if the worst happens, we can post the pic on Mumsnet and someone, somewhere, might have an 'outgrown' one.

Verbally describing a teddy just doesn't work, for obvious reasons.

Good luck, OP.

eBay? We managed to replace DS's beloved bear via this route.

Although asking everyone you know locally to circulate a message on FaceAche about a lost bear might lead somewhere...

That's the one! Thank you so much MrsTrelis, I didn't even think of looking on ebay. Husband is buying him now, so will just need about 20 cycles in the washing machine to make him look like the old one. Thanks MNers. I just hope DS is fooled.

On further inspection there are a few. I just searched 'sleeptight bear' on eBay. Hope this works!!

Luckily there was a buy it now option. I will come back in a few days and let you know how it went.

I've had to buy about 4 extra bears from eBay. Ds has never noticed the difference! Good luck.
