Baby Travel Sickness

My poor 6 mo baby suffers terribly with travel sickness.

She is otherwise a very healthy, happy baby.

We've tried a different car seat, and different cars (grandparents etc) but sadly the result is the same.... Lots of puked up milk.

Things are better if I avoid feeding prior to a car journey. But, this isn't always possible. And what with weaning I'm now getting nervous about more substantial vomit.

I was that baby. 34 years later and I still suffer badly from travel sickness. I have to drive myself or I just feel awful. Unfortunately my mum never found a solution and says that she just protected the car in the end as there was nothing else she could do! Windows open helps a bi. Maybe she'll be better once forward facing?

In years of nannying and childminding, have found the best way to reduce car sickness is to put the child in the middle of the rear seat so she can see straight through the windscreen rather than the side windows.

Until she is old enough to turn around maybe a seasickness wrist band?

Ooh yes I sat in the middle facing forwards once old enough. And now have to be in the front if a passenger.

I get travel sickness too, so I suppose it's not surprising she has it. I'm not as bad as you though Dragonboobs. For me it's only when I'm in the back of certain cars. It's such a horrible feeling, I hate to think my baby ever feels like that.

We drove down to the coast today. She's such a happy, sociable little baby. She seemed to have such a nice time. And then on the way home.... Puke everywhere!! I'm worried she'll start to hate going anywhere for fear of feeling ill.

Thanks for the tips. Will try sea bands and the centre of the car.

I've cleaned the inside of our car so many times... But there's just the smell of sour breast milk lingering all the time now.

I was going to say sea bands too. Could a mirror hung over a head rest help or would that make things worse?

For the smell - could you put towels down to catch any mess? Sometimes you can get car seat inserts for potty training- could you see if you can get something like that? I highly recommend a professional valet for getting rid of gross car smells after having a long term use wet and ill dog. You can buy smoke odor bomb things that I've heard good things about.
