Toddler - cot duvet? Help me troubleshoot sleep setup!

Hi,
I have a 2.5 year old who is still in her grow bag/cot. We have recently had DC2 and she is a bit disturbed at night, waking up crying in the small hours after previously sleeping through. To top it all she has recently had a growth spurt and does seem a little bit big for her growbag. She is very keen on playing 'going to bed' with blanket / pillow and I get the feeling she might soon like a big bed. However, I had been hoping to keep her in the cot until the baby moves into it in a few months. In the mean time I was wondering about getting a little duvet to put in the cot, since she likes tucking her self up. Is this safe? What do you think the best solution for me is? Sorry if this is garbled.

Yep its totally safe at 2.5. We got one from IKEA and a small flat pillow too at around 2.

Can the sides come off the cot or not? If so, maybe take a side off so she can get herself in and out?

Annoyingly I got a cot that doesn't have a removable side. Kicking myself now!

Fine. I agree with taking the cot side off, although mine were both in big beds at 20 months. Maybe put a stairgate on her bedroom door too.

With ds1, I used a cot sized duvet inside a single sized. I tucked the spare cover under the bottom of the mattress to secure it in one spot.
This worked pretty well.
I'm going to do the same with ds2 in about a months time.

Ds went into big bed at 19 months is but is still in a bag at 2.5

Don't kick yourself for not getting a cot bed - we just bought a normal single which hopefully will last until teenageGrin much more cost effective.
Also you need the cot for school 2 and they say it's good to have a gap between moving another cd in it as they might feel usurped

Think about making the bed transition now rather than waiting for DC2 to be ready for the cot. Your DD may be very resentful of DC2 if she feels that DC2 has taken her cot away from her.

You know you can get 3-6yr grobags, don't you?

I'd put the duvet in sideways, and put on side under the mattress.

Agree with others, might be better to move her into a bed before baby needs cot, so she is being moved for her, not because baby needs her cot?

dd has always hated gro bags so has had a cot duvet since about 4 months old and when she went into a bed at 16 months she had a double duvet
