newborn hangnails

dd has a hangnails on a few of her finger nails. I've tried using baby clippers to cut them but they're too flat to her nail to get at them. Also don't want to pull them off as I know myself how sore they can be!

how can I remove them? her fingers are a bit red and swollen around the hangnail too

My youngest had this. I found the best thing by far to clear them up was breastmilk. It was a very short lived phase!

Can you nibble them off gently? I've done this to my baby a few times. Lots of people trim their baby's fingernails this way as they're so soft when they're that young
