Aw it's so scary isn't it. We took DD (4m) to A&E with it last Saturday. She had a course of low dose steroids (3 doses 12hrs apart) and didn't have any recurrence of the croup cough, although she's had a normal cough and horrid cold that she's just getting through now. It didn't knock her too much as she's been full of beans apart from the first 2 days after. Hope your little boy is on the mend very soon.

With you saying your little girl was better after 2 days would you take him back for more steroids? He was breathing fine today then when I put him in bath his breathing went weird again but no where near as bad as it was. He's still got the cough not so much seal cough but more barking cough. I'm defo taking him doctors in morning though x

My son had it around the end of Nov last year at 9 months, it was so scary! Although his wasnt severe enough to warrant steriods. I asked the GP for them but he said unless its bad, they dont like to give steriods to babies under 1 year old. I thought his croup was bad as his cough sounded absolutely dreadful but his breathing appeared ok and he was in ok form otherwise. The cough lingered for almost 2 weeks though.
I gave him the odd dose of nurofen to help with any inflammation he may have had.
