I understand the concept of cluster feeding but it still amazes me! I've been feeding dd since 10:30pm, its now 1:30am and we're still going. She gets cross if i try and call it quits and isn't nodding off at all! Each repositioning i think 'this is it now, she'll drop off after this' but she just chomps away, eyes open, very alert. Its really starting to get uncomfortable. Please tell me the end is in sight and that this is normal behaviour!?

It's very much normal hun. She's probably going through a development or growth spurt. She's putting her order of milk in, and you'll adjust within the next few days. Just keep changing sides, and if your experinceing any pain - break the latch and re position
My dd was exactly the same, luckily when she did cluster feeding she slept until dinner time the next day! ??

Just make sure you have the remote, your phone, drinks and snacks to hand. And if you haven't perhaps try a sling or wrap if you need to do other things as well. It's hard but shouldn't last more than a few days x

Aw bless!

Ah yes all very normal hun. There's a growth spurt around now, and in a few weeks time, can't remember when but this site is good. kellymom.com/bf/normal/growth-spurts/

Keep at it, she's putting her demand in for the next day. The milk hormones are most active in the early hours, your DD Is putting her demand in for the next day's milk. You'll find it lasts for about 5 days.

Just make sure you've drinks and snacks to hand. Breastfeeding mums notice the growth/development more, as you'll probably be cluster feeding, and feel like you're constantly feeding. What ever you do, don't top up with formula in the first 6 weeks or give her a dummy (unless you decide it's best for you both) as it will mess with your supply, and you may have to stop bf before you planned to stop.

If you get sore nipples, just take off her latch and relatch.

You're doing fab! Are you getting much support from friends/family/MV partner ect? Xx
