ds currently still uses a cotbed duvet. As it's getting chilly I want to put a normal size duvet on his toddler bed as his small one keeps falling off.Is a 13 tog one too high for him?

My children aged 8, 5 and 3, all have a 4.5tog duvet and a fleece blanket to place on top of duvet cover if cold.

Would never give a child a 13 tog.

It is the weight of the duvet not the tog rating - went into John Lewis on Saturday for same reason as you and the duvet chap told me all this. You can buy a higher tog duvet in synthetic as is very light but not say duck feather as is much heavier. Saying that, JL now do some ultra light feather ones which would be OK (but they were £125 for a single so depends on your budget!) Perhaps go and talk to someone in JL as they know all about this.

You do have to watch the tog rating as well as the weight of the duvet.

Children can overheat so very quickly and if they're sleeping and they get too hot it can lead to fits as well.

Please be careful with what you choose.
