Baby TV

We've had a truly awful night's sleep. LG (6 months) has either been crying or feeding (bf) all night. At 5 I gave up and got up. Mainly to let OH sleep. LG is currently settled watching baby tv, and I'm having a coffee.
Am being completely selfish to let her sit in front of the tv while I have a break? Will it set a precedence that I really don't want to keep going?
TIA

Do what you have to do. You aren't dooming your baby to a life of inactivity and morbid obesity just because you let them watch a bit of tv Wink

baby tv is great. DS loved it. Seeing as your baby is so young though they can't 'ask' for it Grin give yourself a break just don't leave it on for too long.

My dd hated baby tv but loved cbeebies and in particular chuggington from about 4 months old! it was the only way she would be out down without screaming the place down so I could have a cuppa/eat/pee. do whatever you need to do, it won't harm her in the slightest!!

7.5 month old DS has been brought up with CBeebies so far! DD always watches a bit in the morning while we get ourselves ready and in the evening before bath time.

He loves watching the bright colours and listening to songs.

I gave up feeling guilty after a while Smile

I feel your pain. We have had a terrible night with 6month old - high temp and screaming all night and two year old waking at five just as baby settled! I give up today- duvet day and tv will be on for large proportions of the day- usually my son is allowed two peppa cartoons before bed and that's it! Sometimes you just have to do it for your own sanity- as long as it's not often and you go back to house rules after. My eldest thinks Christmas has come early!!! Mind you it is horrible how both of them turn into little zombies whilst watching it! Hope your day improves!

Dd is 19 months and always watches half hour of cbeebies in the morning before breakfast, she has a cup of milk and I have a coffee, don't worry about it!

I sometimes put it on to keep my 7 month old occupied when trying to tidy up. She seems to enjoy it.

When i wake up in the morning
Everything looks just the same
Sun is shining, birds are singing
Are they calling out my name?

Ds is too big for baby tv now but I still remember the words to that most insanely, phycodelically happy song!

Also remember Ds being soothed by the proclaimers "sunshine on leith" and having to play it on repeat. That was my fault because I used to sing it to him sarcastically when he was upset "my heart is broken, my heart is broken"
Poor Ds missed the sarcasm and latched onto the song!

But to answer you question OP: yes itsfine to let your baby watch tv, especially at 5 when shes been crying. Enjoy your coffee and be nice to yourself

Put the tv on. Better than being a frazzled mum

We have baby tv on when DD is having her milk on a morning and if I'm having a tidy. If it gives you a few minutes of sanity it's worth it Smile

As long as it's not all day it's fine!

I think it's trippy! "Itssss today, my special dayyyy". Me and DP found ourselves having grown up chat about some story on BabyTV. Until we realised and cringed!Confused

Baby Chef, Baby Chef cooking is a lot of fun... The human hands in gloves gave me the creeps though. I hate humans dressed as puppets.
