A possibly dim question on dummy sizes (x-posted with behaviour & development)

My DD is approaching 22 months and has a dummy since she was a cpl of weeks old.

I dislike it (personal thing) but she uses it when travelling (we commute to London a few days a week so it helps on busy trains!) and for sleep - she is quite attached to it and asks for it when tired of getting in the buggy.

Anyway she has the tommie yippie 0 - 6 month size (not the teeny tiny newborn size). I haven't got any new ones in ages and have always just replaced like for like in the past. Partly because that was what she was used to and partly because I was hoping she would just stop using it when it got too small lol.

Anyway it has suddenly occurred to me that have a dummy made / branded as for so much a younger age range might be detrimental physically. I can't find any info tho so thought i'd ask the oracle of mums net!

Watching with interest! My DD (13 months) still has the dummy size she had when a newborn (MAM dummy). I bought a bigger, the 6+ months one but she just spat it out! Like you, I'm hoping she'll give it up naturally when it gets too small. No sign of that happening yet though!

I'm ashamed to say ds is 2 and a half and still uses the mam newborn ones!!! Blush I got him the next ones up and they looked huge! He only has it for bed and I'm taking him to the dentist soon for advice and hoping his teeth are ok!

My 20 month DD moved from TT ones to avent ones when she went In to the biggest size. The avent ones look nicer!

She made the transition emveru easily and actually prefers the avent ones - when offered both she will take the avent

The huge issue is why I moved from TT - the largest size TT cover her whole face whereas there is little difference with the avent 18mo+ and the smaller sizes

Thank goodness I am not the only one. I cannot stand mahoosive dummies lol. On inspection we appear to have the Avent ones too.

In that case I would leave it. I was dead against a dummy until she was terribly affected by reflux and the paediatrician recommended it.

Some months down the line it is still there!!

We have largely got it down to nighttime only having had a few battles.

Oh! And I am very impressed that you have managed to keep hold of the same ones! I have lost track of how many we have gone through. I have told myself no more though - once the last of these is inevitably lost then that is it
