Any difference between cheap and expensive Moses baskets?

We have v limited space when LO is born, so thought we'd go with Moses basket to start, then cotbed when we move out into our own place and have more room, but MBs seem to have a HUGE price difference for something that looks v similar.

yep the dearer ones are just fancier, we just had the mothercare cheapest one and it latest ages and now dd uses it for her dolls!

Have you considered an 'eco crib' , mothercare do them, and they are great.
you can also easily flatpack them to use as a travel cot, we took ours on the train once.

some of the prettietr ones are more expensive because they use better material thats all.

You're less furious with the cheap one when they turn out to be a long lanky baby and outgrow it in 6 weeks!

would a crib or a bedside cot still save space and last longer? Big second hand market for these things so they needn't be expensive.

I got mine for 15 quid off ebay, inc bedding ans stand and postage.

Don;t see any point in paying more tbh, as they grow out of them in a nanosecond. There are better things to spend you moolah on.

Can you borrow one off someone? We only used ours for about 6 weeks, and I was so glad to be able to give it back to my friend, and know I'd not spent £60 or whatever on something that lasted such a short space of time.

I had Twins. Borrowed a £100 version from SIL & brought £30 version for the second twin. Both were fully functional at the end (which is all that really matters right?!?!?).
£30 version has now provided service for 3 babies, which were all very small & the basket was used for in excess of 4 months each time - it could quite easily be used again (not that I am planning to!). Go with the £30 or as someone else has said borrow - you probably won't use it for long as 4 months.

TBH the twins grew out of the expensive one first as it was much shorter. Go for the longest you can - my babies all grew out of it on the basis of length not weight. I don't know what everyone elses experiences were?

Oh goody, I was hoping that I was right and wouldn't have to fork out on something that doesn't last for ages. A cheap one it is!
We're going for a MB, rather than a smaller cot, because I wanted to be able to bring it downstairs when I'm sick of the same 4 walls, or when we have visitors. I don't fancy either waking her up to get her out, or letting anyone come into the 1 room that we'll have as our own private space! We won't have a travel system for the same space reasons, so there won't be a carry cot to do that job.
Quite like the idea of giving it to DD in 5 years time for her dolls too... (goes off into rose-tinted PG dreams about LO)

Like you I thought MB then cotbed once ds was in his own room for space reasons. Had to rethink when it became apparent that he was waking up after 5 mins in teh MB becasue he relaxed and his hands hit the sides. Bought a cot at 7 wks after having had him on teh bed with me for a some weeks, squezed all teh furniture up to fit it in and keep the drop side down so its like a big MB right agaist teh bed. used a rocker-goes-flat chair for daytime naps in the rest of the house for some time.
That said, a freinds dd used teh MB till they were 6 or 7 months and anothers dd was still in it for camping at 10 m/o , guess they didn't sleep stretched out like my ds does.

My son lasted 4 weeks in the moses basket, he had only about 10cm to spare at his head and his arms kept knocking on the sides! Try get a secondhand one, I did and am glad, as it would've been a waste in money!
