As per the guidance. How did you handle the whole noise levels?
Particularly in the evening when they have gone to bed properly for whole night.

Never worried about it. Baby slept through TV, conversations, hoovering.

May have been lucky though. But I don't think he really "went to bed properly" until about 11pm when we went to bed, it was on/off naps and cluster feeding.

I was always knackered so hopped into bed early on and maybe watched iPad tv or read or something
Ds was in a cot at the end of our bed so could contain noise (and he is a good sleeper)

Do you mean when they are downstairs till you go to bed?
We really don't worry about that much noise to be honest. TV on, me an DH chatting, dog barking occasionally. She does rustle and change position a bit but pretty much settled. I go up at 9.30 ish and DH gives her expressed bottle and brings her up at midnight.
This is 3rd DC so downstairs is probably better (than the fuckers that won't go to bed upstairs)
There is a noticeable difference in her sleep once we are all upstairs though. Much less squirming, no movement when we get up to loo etc.

She seemed to sleep through TV, talking etc. We weren't that noisy but neither did we whisper.

He was downstairs in a moses basket untill it was time for me to go to bed.
Actually, in the end I couldn't be bothered to go to bed only to be woken up 4 hours later, so i took to sleeping on the sofa. Then I got into the habit of eating dinner at midnight when he woke for a feed and then watching 1/2 hour of this documentary series on northern ireland we found on youtube.
In retrospect- we did live quite oddly during that period. DS had no trouble with noise though.
And he had a much better routine than me!

DS took all naps in the bouncer until about 9mo, and started STTN around 5wo. So during naps we carried on as usual, tv, chatting etc, he was fine. During night sleep once he was sleeping through we put him down and joined later when we were going to bed (was that wrong?). Anyway when we came into the room we didn't whisper and would watch YouTube etc, but we didn't turn main lights on, have volume loud or anything that could be obviously disturbing.

DD didn't 'go to bed' until 4 months. We kept her with us downstairs until then. For the last two months, we took turn about in our bedroom with the iPad from 8pm onwards.

Slept through anything on my lap until I was too tired and went to bed. At about 9pm . Both children this is.
Dd2 is also very adept at sleeping through the toddler screeching and bumping into her during all her naps which are on my front or back in a sling. She is almost 6 months.

LO is 6 1/2 mo mow and is still in our room. She doesn't sleep though. 2 or 3 wakings usually and we are desperate to get her own room sorted and get her in there and see if it makes a difference. Pretty sure we are disturbing her as much as she is waking us when she is shuffling, mumbling and farting! We have been putting her to bed at 7 - 8 ish from about 12 weeks. I go up between 10 and 12. Obviously we have the monitor on but I must admit I hadn't really thought of the guidance as meaning there must be someone in the room with them at all times just that overnight you are advised to share a room.

They went to bed in our room, we went downstairs for our evening together, then we got ready for bed quietly and joined sleeping baby. They were all in our room till 7months.

DD is 13mo and still sleeps in our room. Never saw any need to change it tbh. She sleeps through average house noise (chatting, tv etc) and then we just carry her to bed when we go up.

I just carried on as normal DS always slept through it all. Even now he at 8 he would sleep through a bomb going off.

With DC1 I crept around silently in the dark. With each subsequent child I've got louder and more lackadaisical with lighting.

Until he outgrew the Moses basket at 4 months he slept in that downstairs til we went to bed and transferred him to crib. After that we just went to bed with him and watched a film. Noise doesn't seem to wake him but he slept more soundly once we settled for the night.

My daughters 3 n half months ...would sleep through a bomb i either go in to the bedroom with her at her 8 oclock feed ,put her down etc and then chill out.

or she stays in living room until 12 feed and we both go to bed and sleep.

We're quiet. Seriously. Two adults sat whispering about bloody SIDS advice- both agreeing that the baby would be in no danger directly above us in the bedroom rather than directly opposite us in the living room but not actually daring to do it!!!

btw DS is 16 weeks and will obviously be moved upstairs at 6 months +1 day!! pfb.

Yes DS would also sleep through a bomb! He's slept through a smoke alarm right outside his door (false alarm), alarm clocks, and a thunderstorm which was so loud it woke me and DH up and sounded like someone dropping bowling balls on the ceiling, repeatedly and suddenly.hhes 5.5 now.

We just carried on as normal re. volume of TV, conversation etc.

With both of ours, they didn't seem bothered by most noises unless they'd had a long enough sleep that we'd be expecting them to be ready to wake for another feed soon anyway.

DD has never been up for going to sleep, so once she finally did fall asleep we were so delighted, we would both get into bed too! Would play games on the iPad if we were not knackered.
