Hi
I have just bought kelp powder 200g and have NO idea how much to give my 9 month old?? Do I just put a teaspoon in each batch of meals? Don't want to give her too much!

Can I ask a possibly silly question, but why do you want to give kelp powder to your 9 month old?

From a quick google it seems that you would only use a v small amount e.g. 1tsp, and it also seems to thicken/emulsify/gel what you add it to.

I am vegan so was looking for ways to give her iodine but don't want to give her too much. I guess I could put a teaspoon in a batch of 4 meals maybe....

If you are still breastfeeding your baby doesn't iodine supplements, but you may do.

Try reposting on weaning or food? I've never heard of this.

(Also am confused about iodine/iron, is that an autocorrect?)

No it won't be an autocorrect. Kelp is rich in iodine. anything from the sea is, but most iodine rich foods wouldn't be suitable for a vegan. Apparently bread is fortified with it and would be a suitable vegan source.

I am still breastfeeding, sorry, was thinking more of when I stop. Bread on the shelf does not state whether it has iodine in....Is fine though I have found a cereal with 50 percent of her daily recommended amount and am guessing by the time she is one she will be having twice as much cereal as she currently has, so we are sorted :o)
