Dd 3.10 always hungry.

Our dd is always always hungry and she is, frankly, getting chubby

We are doing all we can to steer her to carrot sticks, cucumber, apple, breadsticks, rice cakes or dried fruit but there seems to be an incessant cry of I'm hungry

She is tall for her age at 1.18cm and has size 11 feet already, she is really active, running dancing, we walk the dogs twice a day, she rides at weekends and goes to a very active nursery.

Any suggestions for low calorie, filling snacks?

This is what she has had today
Breakfast - porridge (kids microwave one) plus a couple of apple rings and apricots. Small glass of milk and glass of water

Mid morning - apple plus 4 small rice cakes, then a fruit leather treat, water (has a drink bottle on the go all day)some before and some after 40 minute riding lesson

Lunch - 1 slice of bread with marmite, carrot sticks and cucumber with hummus, babybel

Glass of milk at 4

Supper - Small M&s kids pizza with salad (cucumber, tomato, red pepper and peas) yoghurt. Rice cake, milk, more milk, another rice cake

We have tried hard to distract her today and not give her more.

There are occaisonal sweet treats, but they are usually of the fruit leather type

Her friends are all skinny picky feeders, am I being paranoia and put it down to an impending growth spurt??

Is the milk full fat or semi skimmed?

Try much more protein, and less fruit and rice cakes- more filling ESP as she is active. Prriage and nuts not dried fruit, hummus and carrot sticks for snack, not rice cakes, meat and 2 veg for lunch and dinner.

Hmm doesn't seem like much, wonder if you should be trying asked beans jkt. Pots, broth with loads of pulses
Sorry it sounds like I am criticising I'm Not,
I have a ds 3 like this also and this is what seems to fill Him up.
She does. A lot of exercise so it stands to San she may need a bit more. Ds goes thru a chubby stage before a growth spurt, are you sure she isn't due one?

I may be very wrong here but there doesn't seem to be a lot of substance to her meals.and snacks.apples and rice cakes just don't have enough bulk..bizarrely sometimes we need to eat more to control weight. Will she eat bananas, whole meal bagels, full fat yoghurts? Is she a meat eater or like eggs? I think maybe more protein would help fill her up too especially if she's growing quickly.also if you can try giving her a bigger breakfast..fuels her better and may make her less inclined to snack.Good luck

I'd give her a bigger lunch. Ds is the same age and he had risotto (2 helpings) and 2 yogurts for lunch then fish fingers, mash & beans followed by ice cream and a pear for dinner.

He is very lean but just eats and eats!

Also, I give him wraps as a snack, with either ham or chicken inside. Quick and easy to hold on the move.

Hi,
Thank you, today probably wasn't the best example as we have been running around a lot trying to get jobs done so we can collapse tomorrow.
She usually has a hot meat and veg lunch at nursery and then a lighter supper (often spaghetti as that is fave)
She is probably due a growth spurt tbh
Milk is full fat, she likes poultry but isn't so good on lamb or beef, she will eat them at school but never here unless really forced and I don't want to get into that.
We have fish twice a week and she is good having that with plenty of veg, she gets a sandwich style tea at school at after school club and then will have a yoghurt when she gets home.

Thank you for the suggestion of bulk, bananas are out atm (don't you just love child food fads) I will work on wholemeal options and work out some others.

That doesn't seem like a vast amount of food, my DD 2.3 could manage that Confused
Am I reading her height right, 118cm tall? That is very tall, my DS is the same age and about average for height and is about 105cm tall. Have you weighed her, where is she on the percentiles?
