DS has no friends :(

DS just started year 1, he's shy but made friends with one boy and had several playdates but a couple of times he mentioned that this boy has been mean to him and I also noticed some unkind behaviour (nothing major) .

After the holidays DS seems to have settled in, and he was due to have this friend over but seemed to not be excited by the idea and on further probing I learned that he has apparently been sitting at 'buddy bus stop' on his own waiting for someone to play with him and no one does. He is friends with a couple of the girls but in the playground boys play with boys according to ds.

I'm really sad for Ds, he was starting to come out of his shell but this has really set him back. What can I do to help him? Also what should I do about this friend of his? Should we not invite him for playdates while he is being mean according to ds?

Mention it to the teacher - they can do a lot to help. I always recommend Beavers- very good for being inclusive. I think they need to be 6yrs.

Thanks I have mentioned it to the teacher but he just told me about the buddy bus stop thing today so will speak to her again next week. The other thing is she is a brand new teacher so I'm not sure if she'll know how to handle it. I may also mention it to his reception teacher as she knows the class better.
