Giving a haircut to a 11 mo ?!?

Hi all,

Just wondering when your LOs had their first haircut? DS is 11 mo, but was born with a full head of hair which is now getting a bit out of control...
Is it too early to give him his first hair cut? Will he sit through it ??

TIA :)

I took DS about then, wasn't a fan of the straggly bits! Just a tidy up to stop it going in his eyes. Tried myself when he was asleep but didn't really work so went to the barbers my DH uses and they were great. He sat really still too, I think because it was a different environment.

He's been every month or so since and it's great, he's always done it so there've never been any tantrums or misbehaviour (not when there anyway!).

Oh my god, DS had his first hair cut at 11mo (now 17mo) and he screams the place down every time! The last two times I had to leave before they'd even got the scissors out! In desperation I bought some hair scissors to tidy it up myself at home.

first haircut was at 7 weeks, yes I said weeks. she is now nearly 6mths and is due haircut no.4.

she was born with more than a full head of hair and hasn't lost any. it grows at great speed

Ds had his first hair cut at around 7/8 months. He was distracted by keys quite easily. As he got older I used my phone and peppa pig Blush

I used to sit mine in a booster seat or high chair in front of the tv and do a quick tidy up snip

DH takes DS1 to the barbers every few months. He seems to alternate between sitting quietly and screaming the place down, but will sit relatively still in the chair when supplied with an ipad to fiddle with.

Sorry, he's been going since he was about 1yo as he two had a crazy mullet full head of hair from v early on. I miss his baby curls though!

I sit in the bath with DS2 (who was born with long, floppy, curly dark hair, which never fell out) and use a wilkinson sword Quattro bikini razor. Shock
It's a bit like clippers but smaller, quieter and less injurious!
He is ok with me doing that (with toys to play with in the bath) and I don't have to worry about taking massive chunks out of his hair with clippers or his ear with scissors :)
