Have just been on holiday with my family, 5 adults and a toddler sitting by the pool, when a complete stranger comes over and asks us to watch her 2 children while she goes for a spray tan, her mum was meant to be there but hasn't turned up and she's going to miss her appointment. My dad agrees and the lady walks off leaving her 6 month old dd (with a swelly nappy) and 8 yr old ds without even telling us their names.
'Nana' turns up 15 minutes later, greets the boy then walked of to the pool for a swim, telling us that she didn't agree to watch the children so she didn't see why she should. 5 minutes later, mother reappears, picks up baby and walks off with a thankyou over her shoulder.
I was gobsmacked, couldn't imagine abandoning my ds with complete strangers for the sake of a tan, just wondered if mumsnet thought I was over reacting....
