Best disposable nappies?

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 14/06/2013 22:50

DD arrived recently, and although DS isn't quite 5 I have forgotten everything I ever knew about baby supplies, I think!

So.... With DS we only ever used Pampers, I know there was a reason but I have no idea what it was. The own-brand nappies are lots cheaper. We're trying a couple of supermarket own brands at the mo, but does anyone have a recommendation for any particular one?

Would be grateful, I just don't remember Pampers being so expensive last time around!

Asdas Little Angels and Aldis Mamia ones. both are fab.

Asda Little Angels nappies fit well and absorb well but the little side tabs are an absolute twat to unstick, I detest them. We're going back to Tesco own brand nappies once I've got through the final 20 Asda ones. We have tried Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco so far. Sainsburys nappies had a more curved shape, whereas Tesco and Asda are like rectangles. The only difference between Tesco and Asda is those bloody wretched tabs, you don't want to have to fight with a nappy before you can get it done up on a wriggling, starting to cry baby, at 2 in the morning when you can hardly see from tiredness...
My DH preferred the Sainsburys nappies but I think that's just because he's posh.

Never thought I would have so much to say about nappies. My DD is only 4 weeks old btw so I'm no expert!

Asda little angels - DS' nursery use pampers - he often leaks whilst there whereas he never does at home in Asda nappies

hi i usually use tesco loves baby in day time n pampers baby dry at night also aldis mamia ones are good but i just went into tesco and because pampers are changing design i think it was i got a pack of 60(3 packs to be exact) size 3 baby dry for £4.99 each in a separate isle to the nappies might be worth everyone checking there local tesco and stocking up as they were cheaper than tescos own brand sorry thought i pass this onto everyone

We expected so much from Little Angels due to so many recommendations but as with many things, every child is different and DS just didn't get on with them. They weren't absorbent enough and we had to change him much more regularly. We use the Pampers Baby Dry day and night and they're the only brand so far that work for us. However I know someone who's DC got a practically raw bum from the Baby Dry Sad Although I haven't tried Naty yet myself, a friend's DD would often leak poo as well as having nappy rash with a variety of brands but the Naty is perfect on all fronts for her.

We've tried them all at some point (DD 15months) and are currently using Asda little angels. When DD was newborn I used Huggies initially, then switched to Just for Bums from Kiddicare which I found brilliant and used for several months. Have had varying degrees of success with Lidl, Tesco and Sainsburys. DD's nursery use Pampers and she's never had a problem with them, I just can't justify the spend so don't use them. I think all babies are different shapes and it really is a case of trial and error depending what age they are too. For instance Sainsbos were gone for us when she was size3 but size 4 were a disaster!

Tbh with my toddler I don't really notice a difference I get the 'superdry' version of each own brand nappies -usually more nappies per pack and they all seem to be fine. With younger ones dd(3 months) I prefer nappies that have an elasticated bit at the back to hopefully stop poo explosions but only really have a problem if we forget to pull the nappy up at the back or dd does a poo after not going for a couple of days. There is so much she would need a nappy up to her armpits to actually contain it. They are all pretty much the same imo.

We use Boots own brand ones, which have been brilliant for us. They also quite often do some great offers on them.

aldis mania are great but they seem to sell out quickly in size 3 at the moment, so Asdas little Angels are second best. have been using a mix of these for 5 months, no leaks.

the first 3 months we used pampers/buggies that had been bought and found the pampers leaked a few times

Have struggled to find anything that works other than Pampers for my newborn (believe me I'm trying thanks to the cost!) but Asda have been great for my toddler. Funnily enough Boots have been a disaster for both of mine, shows there's no set 'winner'!

Pampers are the ones that leak less for us. I wouldn't recommend Boots own I'm afraid.

I have a little wriggler so tried lots of ones and Lidl toujours are my favourite. I am now starting to drive to Lidl which is damn miles away just for their nappies! I live 2 mins away from asda so that's how good they are.
