Recommendations for an all terrain push chair

I live in a rural area and really want to head out walking to loose some baby weight I regret buying the pram i have because it is rubbish along the bumpy tracks, fields and footpaths.

Just wanted to ask advise to see if anyone can recommend a good one or actually tell me if its worth me buying one, will it really make a difference if i purchase one?

I have a phil and teds sport and find it awesome for bumpy ground. Not sure if you have more than one dc, but if you are planning another it could be a smart investment as it also doubles up..

Chariot carriers do great buggies, and you can swap in cross country skis and a harness on them, too.

I just used to take it on dog walks, too. copes well with snow, up mountains, on sandy beaches etc. a version to suit most families.

We had a double at one point, but a single either side of it. They do a great flight bag to pack it in and so you can fold it up, whip the quick release wheels off, and zip it in at the gate. All very sensible.

A friend had a Phil and teds and personally I found it very heavy. You want a fixed wheel one, not just one with a lockable wheel

We spend a lot of time in proper rural countryside and also a hilly town : Mountain Buggy Swift is awesome yet light and can easily fit on bus and trains. Huge storage under seat. The buggy has been a godsend with all the recent snow - in fact it has made it down country lanes where a car with snow chains on and a tractor couldn't! Stylish too. Retain value well on eBay. I walk everywhere: never been so fit. I just love my buggy. They come in 3 sizes - the swift is the smallest - desperate for a cheap Terrain for festival season....X

Nipper out n about! Mine is brilliant and half the price of Phil and teds which I found harder to manipulate. I can push the nipper one handed and it's great in the countryside.

If you have the money to splash, Mountain Buggy. If you already have one (like we did), Out n About 360 is brilliant. I absolutely love mine, it's a fraction of the price of Mountain Buggy and handles anything you want to throw at it. Outs has been to the alps with us (in summer and winter) and we are surrounded by countryside. It's really light and folds and unfolds easily (I can do it while holding my daughter).

We've got a Jane trider which is great as its got the lie-flat car seat which doubles as the pram bit. It folds up easily and the seems to be much less faffing than with some of my friends prams but to be honest our best buy has been a sling as if you're walking across field etc the pram is a bit awkward to get across stiles! I bought a cheap mei tai sling from eBay to get started but have just hired a manduca from our local sling library and it's fab. Dead quick and easy to put on as it's buckles rather than ties and baby goose settles really quickly in it. Since having it we've done a couple of 2 hr walks and I feel like I haven't been carrying her at all. Not cheap but much cheaper than the pram! I wish in hindsight that we'd just bought the sling for walks and a cheapy pram for shopping etc!

Or get a sling/backpack, depending on age of DC. Stiles no obstacle!

You need the baby jogger summit xc. I love mine and I've lost count of the number of people who have asked me what it is so that they can get one. Very light, very stable, copes with any terrain without jolting the baby (suspension is considerably better than my car ).... I could go on

I tried a 3 wheeler the other day and was shocked at how unstable it felt!

Mountain buggy!!! We spent ages researching and were repeatedly advised towards these. We opted for the 'urban jungle' and absolutely love it! It's handled the boggiest horse field, really rutted bridle paths and even coped with a two hour walk across an absolutely saturated common in which DH lost a Wellington.

On flip side, although fairly big, I've never had a problem getting it into shops or on the bus, and the long wheelbase makes it fab got getting on/off trains. Always feels sturdy and best of all, will take two when the time comes.
