Bathing DS with oats - how ??

Hi,

My DS is 20 wo and has pretty bad eczema. I was reading that an oatmeal bath may soothe him, but I have no idea how to go about it. Do I just soak the oats in some water and then put it in a muslin cloth and use that as a sponge for his body?? Do I need any special oats??

Sorry if this is too obvious and I'm just being stupid ! :)

Thanks !!
Jo.

Marking place I want to know to for dd. I was thinking a sock could work instead of a muslim bag?

Have just done this for DDs chickenpox...

Fill sock 3/4 way up with oats. Tie sock around tap using elastic band, so water will pour through sock. Fill bath with water and then remove sock and use as sponge.

HTH

I have done it with a pop sock in the past, if you have such a thing. I think it's better to use oatmeal rather than porridge oats. I would try to tie it onto the tap whilst your are running the bath and then maybe also try to squeeze some water from the bag over him.

I've done this before - cut up an old pair of tights for single use bags, fill with porridge oats and dangle under the running tap, then squeeze into the water when done.

I've done this using a muslin cloth. Put the oats in and tie the top and soak it in a warm bath and then squeeze it into the water.
You can also sponge him with the bag of oats.

And make sure the water isn't too hot because that will aggravate the eczema.
