Tummy Tub v Ordinary plastic bucket

I was just wondering if there was any difference. I'd rather save £20 for something else more useful. Has anybody else here used one?

Whats a tummy tub? Is it that bucket thing you bathe them in?

Yes. I looked at pictures and it doesn't seem to be a whole lot different from a plastic bucket but according some blurb I read it is.

Personnally i'd buy a baby bath, ds is 8mths and loves it, saves water so you don't have to fill the big bath.

I looked at the tt when pg but thought ds would grow out of it too quickly.

tbh, I wouldn't even bother with a baby bath next time. Ds had his first bath at 5 weeks and was into the big bath within a couple of months.

We don't have a bath at the moment. Just a shower. So either I buy a baby bath or a bucket thingy.

ah. what is the max weight for the tummy tub?

some people bath their baby in the sink, even cheaper.

Tbh, they don't really need a bath at all till they are mobile, if then.

I bathed dd1 in the (kitchen) sink for ages. She loved it and it's a great height for me and easy to clean etc. (I used to leave her in there while I made dinner once she was stable and sitting up Shock)
now I do the same with dd2

A bath with an inch of water in is far easier. You can also get one of those sponges from Mothercare. Sounds like hard work to me.

Bathroom basin, then bath with me and his big brother - spend the £20 on a massage or a box of chocs or getting some photos developed - that's more important IMO.

Not sure what a tummy tub is, but... I bought one of those jojo shantala baby baths, supposedly to let my ds bathe in 'womb-like' comfort (is that similar?). We still use it at 9 months although in the beginning I nearly did myself a mischief post c-section lifting it, and ds slipped underwater first time I tried it, I felt TERRIBLE as he was only a week or so old and I wanted him to bathe in womb like comfort!! For ages we just used a washing up bowl (took the dirty plates out first, of course Grin).

He does enjoy his baths, though and has great fun splashing and the like. Bit of a problem when he wont bend hos legs and ends up standing leaning against the back, but never mind. Probably a bit quicker and easier then going in the big bath, but I wouldn't know cos he's never been in it yet.

I bathe the 4 week old i'm currently caring for in the shower with myself, i shower/soap/hair while she has a kick about on the floor then once i'm rinsed i bring her in and she loves it, she also has several basin dips a day as she has many poohs even tho breast baby and it is eaiser and nicer for her especially if she has been sick to have a warm sponge off in the basin.
