Delierately ignoring mummy...

Oh, and it drives me insane.

Ds is 2.9, and typically, he will not answer and will avoid eye contact, ie

"X, it's time to pick your bricks up now, come on, let's get it done so we can go out!"

Silence. No movement.

"X, Mummy has asked you to pick up the bricks. Now pick up your bricks, please!"

Silence, no responce, no movement, carries on with whatever.

"X, pick up your bricks or we won't go to the park!"

Totally ignoring me now..

"PICK UP YOUR BRICKS OR I WILL THROW THEM IN THE BIN WITH THE DIRTY NAPPIES WITH POO ON THEM!!!!"

This is not parenting, this is bullying, I know this, but how on earth can I get him to listen to me?

I know he can hear me, I have a carrying voice, and he can hear the rustle of a crisp packet a mile away.

What am I doing wrong, honestly? Am I nagging too much? I have tried not nagging, but he doesn't take any notice then either. It isn't just when I am trying to get him to do something, he does it when I want his attention to tell him something too.

give him a warning first.
say in 5 minutes you have to put bricks away... or when i finish so=and-so you have to put them away.
that gives him a moment to "come to terms" with it, so to speak.

if he ignores it then just say if you don't put them away i'll bin them/you'll hae no pudding/i'll take them away forever

Get on the floor with him, help him do it, come on mate help me tidy this stuff up, were not going anywhere till its done...Limit the toys on the floor to stop the constant having to pick things up...shove it in a corner
Its his age, he could be throwing himself on the floor having a huge tanrum over the fact youve had the cheek to ask him LOL

Thank you all, yes I should count myself lucky really, it could be so much worse!

Will try warning him first, then getting a binbag out and starting to put toys in it.

I either say, put x away please or I'll put it away and you can't play with it again until tomorrow or if it's lots of bits of lego etc I say right, I'll give you a race, lets see who can pick the most bits up.
